You know of any other way you can play it?

September 5, 2011 at 3:03 pm #1244048I like it – any chance of a lossless format then I will burn it to Cd and mix it into my sets [if thats cool with you]?

Erm, well I’m not really any sort of a producer but I’ll give you my two cents worth…
For me maybe the drums could punch through the mix a bit more, mainly the kick and snare. And I’d say generally the drums are a bit quiet and on the toppy side. Is your drum bus quite heavily compressed or is that just the sound of the breaks you’re using? Sounds like multiband compression somewhere – did you use a mastering plugin on the mix?
I think also the piano melody needs to sit on top of things a bit more in the intro, it sounds like it’s being overpowered a bit by the sweeping synth when it should be the main feature. And the piano sounds a bit artificial – maybe play with the note velocities a bit to make it sound like it’s being played by a musician? I might be tempted to use a slightly darker piano sound with a bit more low-mid.
Anyway, being a critic is the easiest job in the world – its a decent tune.

haha cheers man , it’s cos ur a sound engineer i asked. 😉 … some of the drums are high passed breaks so will try lower/juggle about the cut off points of the filters a little.
I’ve got master bus compression for about 3DB extra volume and that’s it … I rarely use compression if i can help it .. normaly only side chain on the sub, alltho might try and side chain the high hats also on this one or maby just anything in the kick/snare freq range.
I need a new piano plug in .. as this one does as you say sound artificial … (the velocitys should actualy be diferant as i played that live and just quantized it after.)
Thanks for your feed back .. much apriciated as after working on a tune for a while you kinda loose perspective sometimes.
September 6, 2011 at 8:14 am #1244066sick dude!
September 7, 2011 at 4:13 am #1244068have you any mixes on here? Or any on here that are in your style that you know of?
September 7, 2011 at 5:09 am #1244060Search – Downloads – Party Vibe
if you click that link and type “daftfader” and “daft fader” you should get all the mixes i put on here come up in 2 lots (the search doesn’t pick up the ones i put a space in my name when you put my name as all one word)
Faders of the lost arc is probably the best mixed one (dark d+b) … few oldskool techno/hardcore breaks mixes on there as well.
Never really mixed any acid/liqued D+B b4 … that tune was a bit experimental … think i’m gonna try and further it as a genra. 😀
September 7, 2011 at 10:28 pm #1244065Mate, this is fucking cool. You’re gettin’ a lot better at this. 🙂 Mix sounds pretty damn good, but I’m not listening to it on my monitors atm. Reckon you could send me a copy of it as well? Would love to have it on my mp3 player. 🙂
September 7, 2011 at 11:52 pm #1244061Yeah sure mate and thanks for the kind words :D. I’m gonna set up all my stuff tomoz and try finish it off properly. I’ll post up a link to wav and mp3.
Anyone fancy a go at mastering it for me? I can do it my self but all I really do is increase the volume and twiddle with the sterio wideness.
Clusterfrog are you still wanting to practise mastering? (I’ll mix it my self so you not have to faf about trying to work out what i’ve done with 30 tracks with no names many encluding random single drum hits like last time :laugh_at:)

September 8, 2011 at 5:39 pm #1244051just wondering if i had the software was all :p ned to go dig out the software for mastering cos that certainly is not installed and so might kill 2 birds with one stone…
