For some reason it will only let me use audio processes as an insert .. I can’t directly apply them to an individual audio clip. Any ideas why?
June 2, 2010 at 10:24 pm #1226629does any sequencer let you do that? If I want to permanently apply an audio effect to an audio file I have to put the effect as an insert, render/bounce the channel, then drop the output in a new channel
or are you talking about consolidating a wave that you have changed within the sequencer (eg timestretching in ableton)

do you mean adding like a reverb insert to a audio clip off a film, or an insert on a VST channeL?
you could download shortcircuit 2 and sample audio clip through that, and put an insrert on that instead
June 3, 2010 at 8:00 am #1226630adding eg reverb to an audio channel or a VST audio channel should be exactly the same, if it’s only letting you do an insert to one of the above there is something wrong wtih your sequencer.
June 3, 2010 at 11:28 am #1226618You should be able to goto the audio menu then goto the tab audio processes then apply them to the selected wave clip eg. time stretch or pitch change but i can’t. It comes up with the process window, lets me preview what it will sound like with the effect but when I goto apply it, the audio wave doesn’t change. I know it should work as I have used cubase for years – it just seems to be on this computer as my mate has the exact same vertion of cubase and it works fine.

I don’t want to do it as an insert that’s the thing ..I can do that … I just can’t perminently change a clip of audio with the audio effects like you’re supposed to be able to.

the processing
try saving the clip as a different name and doing it again…. mine does that sometimes… cubase just wants to ‘create a new version’ for the one with procvessing applied for me… though the button never seems to be blanked out :-/

I have the option of creat new vertion or use existing … use exsisting will change all audio that is the same and creat new will creat a new audio sample with the changes on for that one bit you highlighted and the others that were the same will stay how they originaly were … but it won’t do either.

my sequencer could beat your sequencer in a fight :crazy_dru
they all make the same noise really its just a case of how quickly you can do your work… I do a lot of timestretching and tempo automating effects to get wobbly underwater sounding drums and ableton is the king for that. However its built in effects arent very good so I have to bounce out audio to Metasynth and Logic to get complex filtering
June 4, 2010 at 12:52 pm #1226633ps id strongly recommend moving away from Reason.. it’s a fisher price tool, you’ll get much better results using decent VSTs

suppose – your gonna get the best tunes out of the place your most comfortable sort of thing.

i know lots of people diss it, and it is very plasticy, and the compressors are shit etc, but i just really like the workflow and can get my ideas down good on it. i think if i ever became a bit more serious about making it, i would ‘jot’ my ideas down by making them in reaason, and then start serious production of it with cubase (analogue mixdowns though)
June 4, 2010 at 11:22 pm #1226634yeah i know what u mean it was my first sequencer and the one that taught me the ropes and got me into music making.. i do love the wiring system and the virtual rack environment it gives you, it’s just that you just hit the wall with it eventually and have to move on.
