Well, what a long time ago that was…
There be ravers in them there hills…heh heh..
My story is one of diselusionment and disapointment, for once we were kings riding high on the crest of the wave that was the early 90’s acid feuled party machine..
Do u wanna live forever ?
We apparantly didnt, and sold out, got propper jobs, married, emigrated or just ended up as burned out post CJB casualties.
But times they are a changing..and we hav’nt been on site for 10 years or so. Does anyone here remember an orible brewcrew crusty called “Jinx” or a narly old pitbull/staff cross called “Ozric” ?
” Gypsy, that fuckin dogs eaten my trainers again”..(nevermind)Anyway, good to see that there are websites out there catering for the party crews, although i must say i ent got a clue how to use em.
We are all very excited about going back on the road again this summer, will be heading for the dorset/devon side of the country..not forgetting to stop off at avebury on the 20th. (damn ive turned into an old hippy)
So a big HI-DEE-HI to all of you lot, and we’ll see you in the moonlit fields this summer.
(now wheres my bloody hawkwind album ?)

Welcome to partyvibe. I didn’t make to Castlemorten myself, but I did find my way to lots of other parties around that time: Torpedo Town, Little Farringdon, Cassington and Lechlade to name a few…
April 16, 2006 at 5:10 pm #1070045wow – I remember getting to Castlemorton as a 20 year old just by chance as two girls at a garage in Oxford asked for a lift to a rave..
its amazing TBH this sort of movement is still going 14 years later – and although we’ve lost a few people who have had negative experiences from the scene there are still those whose lives have been influenced positively even if they have now got jobs/families etc…

i’m a devon head… so don’t be shy when you head this way… no point re-inventing the wheel

I was there too but I turned up with my wife and three kids and I was at the same places as you it seems ‘site’ 🙂 and if you want to bring hawkwind into it we are entering the era of freefestivals, , stonehenge or windsor, maybe were you there too. anyway thats enough name dropping but I am interested how far back other people can go.
I am still interested in the right to gather for free events for a wider comunity than just rave and on a national scale at specific times and I think its where we should be putting efforts or at least soon if they make partys impossible to happen, tbh I cant see that we will be able to continue for much longer, they are not going to put up with it IMO.
April 16, 2006 at 9:37 pm #1070048Anonymouswell im just a wee whipppersnapper, my first freeparty was in 98, and the next one i went to was the first i helped set up in 2000/2001 nye. so while i love looking at all the castle morton pics and the acid house videos, i was listening to “bad” by micheal jackson and mc hammer back in the early nineties. i was twelve when the cja came out, so i missed the boat by a dam sight. i know a fair few aging hippies who were involved in the freefestie movement, or whatever it was, and i cant help but be enamoured with tales of seemingly happier and more naive times. its a shame that heavy drug abuse, police brutality and violence (both from ravers and vigilantes) is such a damaging force these days, buti think if we are ever going to overcome these obsticles, we need the help and knowledge of you old bastards whov been there, done that and smoked the tshirt.
the freeparty movement as i understand it is the meeting of the old hippies and the new ravers, and i think the hippies need to step back nto the limelight to redress the balance. theres too much ignorance in this scene for it to be sustainable.
April 16, 2006 at 11:09 pm #1070047i was dragged around the free festival circuit by my knotted hair from ’76 until, in ’91 i started going to events by myself
no names, no pack drill 😉

That must have been one hell of an introduction to free parties! 🙂
April 28, 2006 at 1:10 pm #1070050I was about between 1980 and 1997 from Brambles Farm to Stonehenge and then the rave scene. Bit older now but can remember (sort of) Romsey and Liphook in Hampshire. Whats hapenning these days ? I seem to have lost touch (got married with kids and stuff). Well never mind, the allotment needs tending, cheerio ’til next time.
