Well then the text should be changed from Discussions surrounding all things creative in any medium to (instrumental only) or something!
In any case, point taken. Are pics allowed??? Because any parties I go to now ARE Christian. I do not know of any raves around here, and if I ever get the chance to go to a bar/club where they play elect. music it is rare.
November 19, 2009 at 9:02 pm #1220406Well did you realise that this forum is actually for raves?
November 19, 2009 at 9:04 pm #1220455PS I know you said your not hear to preach, but if you go back to when you joined you said;
“lol – no, what I was trying to say is – if I only posted on the Christian threads then I would be preaching to the choir! I want something more challenging! I know you’re not suppressing my beliefs…didn’t mean you.
and that’s not just something taken out of context, you were talking about us. So really, you shouldn’t be surprised people think you are preaching/attempting to convert us. People on here tend to be free thinking and of above average intelligence (I did a survey okay), so we tend not to be fooled too easily. We are certainly not as stupid as you seem to think.
November 19, 2009 at 9:05 pm #1220300Well I thought that since what I go to are considered (here) as Christian raves that it would be ok – did not know it HAD to be the UK version!
November 19, 2009 at 9:07 pm #1220303And what I actually MEANT was ‘ I’m not here NOW to preach’…yes I started out ev angelizing, but that’s over. I tried, it fell flat. Didn’t realize you were gonna call me on a VIDEO. I was just trying to share what I was enjoying, that’s all – sorry it gave you the impression that I was preaching.
November 19, 2009 at 9:08 pm #1220306and I DO NOT think anyone on here is ‘stupid’!!!!!
November 19, 2009 at 9:08 pm #1220408no, it just has to be a real rave. we have lots of americans here too, but they actually attend raves.
November 19, 2009 at 9:10 pm #1220309Well in my area (DFW Texas) I’ve never heard of raves happening……there’s metal and punk and psychobilly…..we had a dance club called Division One but it’s shut down.

And you can honestly say, hand on heart, under the eye of God himself, that part of the reason you are here isnt to “open us up” to the idea of God? or influence us in any way shape or form regarding your own religion?
November 19, 2009 at 9:16 pm #1220311I am on here bc I like to party. While I would like to hear that you are ‘saved’, it is not WHY I am here.
I will TRY to not mention my beliefs so much, but just know that the majority of things I do,parties etc are gonna be Christian. Who knows, I may attend some electronic dance thing! 😉

its not quite instrumental only (as some dance music has vocals) but its comparatively rare for thse vocals to have anything other than a secular meaning. Even political “protest songs” are rare although one track by Orbital had a name warning against environmental pollution.
The British rave culture is admittedly hard to understand for outsiders. A lot of people who attend raves do have strong political or faith beliefs but tend not to discuss them as much when partying.

November 19, 2009 at 9:22 pm #1220313Ok, well since I’ve been ‘born again’ (1998) I’ve gotten more used to being Evangelical – that’s how it is here (not so much where I was born/raised in IL). TBH it doesn’t always come naturally – there’s times I’d much rather just party.
November 19, 2009 at 9:27 pm #1220216We do have Evangelical Christians in Britain as well, but they tend to clash with British culture (our Church of England has engaged with them to have discussions on how to minimise these issues).
The area I live in is actually very religious (compared to somewhere like London) and there are lots of different Christian faiths here, as well as other faiths. It is very close to the sea and until recently the dangers of going to sea for fishing or transporting goods and the high death tolls from this made people even more religious, but today the maritime industries aren’t as strong as they once were.
For instance once reason why young Josh (who lives only about 15 miles away from me) has been put off by Christianity so much is that a lot of Christian groups from rival factions have targeted the area and its young people!
November 19, 2009 at 9:31 pm #1220316Well just look at it as – there are some who do mean well, genuinely wish good for the youth. I can understand about not wanting anyone to ‘control’ your life, especially when you’re young (I lived a VERY sheltered life until I turned 28 or so, THEN I went wild).

That didn’t answer my question and it was quite a simple one. It seems quite likely you wont answer the question because in truth part of why you are here is to influence us with your own religious beliefs, even if you also “like to party”. You may have tryed to make it more subtle but it still seems to upset and annoy people.
November 19, 2009 at 9:41 pm #1220318It seems your mind is already made up no matter what I say.
I DID answer the question…..let me say again…maybe it WAS my initial motivation but now it’s not…..I cannot influence anyone on here – if you want God, you’ll seek Him. I guess just KNOWING my beliefs threatens/upsets you?????

Personally I find your belief’s offensive ignorant and annoying. Certainly not threatening however. But I find that with almost every religion other than Buddhism. But that isnt really my point. How I feel personally about Christianity and religion isnt really the issue.
Anyway I don’t mean to upset you I am just trying to explain why possibly people find it odd you are here and to try and find out why you are here.
November 19, 2009 at 10:41 pm #1220382i think the problem is that a christian rock band is not a party band, it is a worship band. worship music and dance/party music do and should not ever mix. You can stick a fat riff over the top of your prayers but it doesnt stop it being a worship song. you are posting christian worship in a very innapropriate place.
i dont like being rude to you, especially as I was born and raised christian, sorry if ive offended u at all, but im just as harsh with my family as as i am with you when I say there is no place in modern society for evangelism. a lot of the shit in the world is caused by people trying to change other people to their beliefs. It is the very reason that christianity is hated so much by the rest of society. you are actually being responsible for the slow demise of your, and my religion and for that reason i get a double whammy of annoyance by these actions
November 19, 2009 at 11:05 pm #1220490Well i think religion is the ulimatedownfall of the human species

do not see why I should – I am not letting some teens and others who may be younger than myself tell me what to do! If I feel like leaving at some point I will, don’t worry – but you are not chasing me off!!!
I would not be naive as to swiftly dismiss us on grounds of age – for the mind is not constricted by this.. Ageism is foolish.

I’ve also noticed this in England, and I respect it.

On every occasion I have Been with an evangelist face to face it has resulted in an extremely heated argument.. We never seem to get on !

building on this, I feeel they come across as very arrogant. It never worked for me, I’ve never ever seen any logic I it. I wouldn’t participate in hymn singing in primary school, as I wished for my education to remain secular. I don’t like they way they have to try and impression you with it.

it’s not control I have a problem with, it’s the type of control that is attempted upon me where the problem lies. It is illogical, corrupt, and for wrong reasons. I choose to control myself to my own accord in which way I feel is right. This sometimes comes in line with mainstream control anyway, i’m not just rebelling against control, I’m pushing for the right control.

the illogical, ignorant and bluntly stupid thoughts many Christians share belief in does by no means threaten me. It does however upset and frustrate my view of the human species
