BURNING THE CLOCKS, BRIGHTON
Held on 21 December, the shortest day. 18:00 – 19:30. Delightful evening parade of illuminated paper and willow lanterns winds its way from central Brighton to Madeira Drive. Expect crowds of about 15,000. Same Sky tell us that they do not publish the exact starting point of the parade, due to potential over crowding, but it’s so big that you can’t miss it. On the beach, there is a bonfire and pyrotechnic display where the lanterns are burned in celebration of the winter solstice and to welcome in the longer days. This event is suitable for all ages, and is free to attend. Look out also for other events from Same Sky, including the Brighton Festival in May. 01273 571106 for more information..
