August 10, 2009 at 2:41 pm #1202555i’m after the new hard/grimey stuff
August 10, 2009 at 9:03 pm #1202550I think the state of breaks has been pretty poor over the last year or two, most of the producers seem to be going into a more 4×4 housey/electro sound which I’m not keen on, rather than the pounding breakbeats that I like.
If you’re after new breaks it’s worth subscribing to this guys podcast though: Radio Shows – Electro House DJ // The Digitalist
It seems to alternate between electro/house one show (not my cup of tea), then breaks the next. The breaks still tend to be more of the electro variety but there’s usually some pretty good stuff on there.

August 13, 2009 at 2:38 am #1202561ok thanks alot, i’m downloading it now
August 13, 2009 at 8:29 am #1202567Breaks is a great genre, better than modern DnB to be honest. DnB tends to be dull lately with all the minimalistic techno-dnb involved and the lack of originality (I was a huge dnbhead few years back but now It’s just all the same).

It’s funny you should say that. I buy and play a lot of breaks but have recently become very bored of what I see as the same generic stuff being released. When I look at DnB it seems to be pushing the barriers a bit and a lot of different styles have sprouted from it.
I don’t think either of us are wrong, it’s probably just perspective.

August 19, 2009 at 1:15 am #1202542No worries about uploading the mix 1log. Doc probably removed it as it was getting old and taking up space. Better to make way for newer stuff.

You know you could make me a happy man if you fancy putting together a new acid techno mix, or have you stopped buying techno trax these days?
I’ve been buying a bit of Techno, not tons of acid though. Really should get a mix sorted anyway, either breakbeat or techno. Will let you know when I do.
Quote:I haven’t listened to you thursday show for time cos I go to N.A meetings on thursday nights now.Well, we haven’t actually done it for a while now which is a bit lame of us/me. We are taking about making it less regular and more of an occasion though, like a once a month special. If we do I’ll make sure the shows get uploaded.
Quote:But as you probably know you will always have my upmost respect as a D.J and friend, good to hear from you brother.:wink:Cheers man! Kind of you to say so. Good to see you back on here.
