I read Sound on Sound too. I really enjoy the Mix Rescue column and the Secrets of the Mix Engineers articles. I do think it gets repetitive though – the whole “how to treat your bedroom” type thing. Useful advice I agree, and I’m sure it shifts magazines, but it gets old fast… I just don’t feel there is any kind of amazing advice anywhere else. Guys like Massenberg and Lord-Alge are not giving mixing tips in those mags, so if they’re not, I’d rather read Tape Op where the people they interview are really out there doing it. Not necessarily famous, but out there making a living, doing their thing and being creative.
