raaa Got into uni on a U and a D. Not brilliant but still, they were very kind and said i could still come :weee: . Went clubbin last night in oxford was kinda good but Parkend aint really my scene. Ah well Now the tough part comes i think i should ask for GL’s help on this one, countryside management or countryside conservation. They are both good courses but it is still tough decision to make:crazy_diz

                  congratulations!

depends on what you want to do in 3 years time….. what are the syllabus elements?

check with your uni as sometimes as I reckon the 1st year of both is common and there’s an option to change courses after the 1st year

TBH with all these courses to make use of it it is gonna be who you know and about networking. start searching your local area for organic farms, small estates etc….

see if they have stats or information about what kinds of jobs people get on completing those courses… may help you decide

Yeh the first year is same as each other, i think after a good look into it all i will go for conservation as this seems the most appealing and useful in my opinion. which should be good.

a lot of conservation jobs are very competitive.. worth getting some practical expereince as well as doing this course to put you a head above other people doing the same kind of course

You get a years work experience thrown in with the course. Thanks for the heads up though, didnt know that it was a competitive industry.

that is definitely good advice; also because its a job people want to do the salaries can be lower.. its worth having other ways of supporting yourself (like the private gardening/DIY work etc)

incidentally a lot of the Govt funding for Defra which funds most of the public sector conservation projects (and most of the private estates conservation projects are dependent on this funding) was slashed as “punishment” for a problematic IT project not delivering on time… so getting these sorts of jobs is even more competitive than before…
