No compilations allowed Mandx.
So that eliminates at least 4 from that list.:groucho:September 7, 2006 at 8:11 pm #1088586Agent Subby wrote:What did ya think of The Rich Kids? Quite enjoyed ‘Ghosts Of Princes In Towers’ title track but found the album a bit of a let down. And correct me if I’m wrong wasn’t Steve New the guitarist a ‘second’ guitarist for the Pistols and then onto PIL?Havent heard it but I’ll give it a go and let you know !
I was refering to Steve Jones one and only lead guitaist of the Pistols, it was Glen Matlock, bass played and song writter that was replaced by Sid Vicious, from there on in Steve provided 99% of the guitar input. I’m not a player myself but this guy taught himself to play by largely staying up for days …with “william for company”. He created such a driving sound with little or no backup from a bass player when playin live..most of the recoding after Glen left have little to no bass track

Yep that’s why i was referring to The Rich Kids. Glen Matlock formed ’em with Midge Ure on vocals. But Steve New was the second guitarist when Steve Jones couldn’t make it. He{Steve New] then went on to play with PIL. BTW I do remember Sid drumming with Siouxie & The Banshees.

September 8, 2006 at 12:18 am #1088648Not sure about the pete townshend thing myself, april.
check out ‘ivor the engine driver’, written in the late 60’s, i think by townshend. its definately pretty dark.
from wot i’ve read, he was abused as a kid. i’m not sayin he’s legit, cos the abused often end up as abusers, but i’m not totally sure…
September 8, 2006 at 1:15 pm #1088609yeah its true alright …but if i was abused as a child i would not want to let a poor kid suffer by following the abuse on id shoot myself rather than do that or get help…anyway lets not go down that road….
