On Friday 29th April 2005, the launch of the first Battle of the Breaks will hit the newly refurbished Jacks nightclub under London Bridge station in the search to find the worlds heavyweight champion of breaks.

Featuring some of the biggest names in the scene going head to head delivering the finest underground beats, this night is set to give everyone a taste of what is to come in the months and years ahead.

Backed by triple-award winning radio station Breaks FM & IDJ Magazine, this annual event will become a standard-bearer for this fast-emerging scene. Those playing on the night are true pioneers of this fresh underground sound and are ready to do battle across three nights of mayhem.

It all starts on April 29th with the preliminary event, when a live draw will decide which of the 12 contenders will face each other at the first Battle in June. Some of the main contenders will be on show to warm up the atmosphere and show what happens when V.I.P Dub plates collide with spectacular 4-deck mixing.

Then it’s on to the Coronet in London for the 11th June for the first battle as the fighting gets dirty and the competition gets serious.
(Also on the night a whole host of top name breakbeat djs/live acts will be showcased in between each battle)

The performers will have to show more than a touch of showmanship and some scintillating scratching skills inside the boxing ring that will host the event to have a chance of winning the heavyweight Breaks Champion title.

Each battle will be short fire 15minute knock out round that will be judge by a panel of judges (our judges will be announced on the night and will feature some of the biggest legends in dance music)
Djs will be judged on showmanship/turntableism/tune selection and of course crowd reaction!!!

All the action being filmed on a special Battle of the Breaks DVD, and on each night, there will be prizes donated by some of the biggest names and labels in the scene. The nights will be covered by a specially-produced programme that will give you all the Battle info you will ever need + several major features in IDJ Magazine covering the Djs/Labels/battles over the course of the year.
This innovative event will be the first of its kind in the breaks scene and will be arguably the most influential ceremony to take place in the industry calendar. Come and be a part of the fast-growing underground breaks movement as it gains momentum across the world.
