if any other man of my age group went around doing graffiti, however well executed, he would be arrested and brought before the Court and berated by the cops and magistrates for acting in such a manner when he is “clearly supposed to be old enough to know better”.
If he had sold any art for cash, there would probably be a civil recovery application from the Council to pay for the cost of graffiti. None of these things happen to Banksy, despite clear pictures of him being available, and as mentioned elsewhere on this forum Councils now having increased surveillance and investigatory powers.
he’s one of those “overgrown teenagers” tolerated by the middle class Establishment art types. Another one is the environmental campaigner George Monbiot, whose parents are prominent Conservative activists!
Thats not to say that either of these men aren’t talented, intelligent people but their rebellion is still tolerated by the Establishment whilst others who may try to follow in their footsteps end up in a lot of trouble.

it was in an independant very small gallery (shop) in Knightsbrigde
full of students an ‘hoodies’ looking at his stuff and taking photos
not what I’d expect the posh totty are used to in there 😉
One of his smaller pieces was up for the same ammount of money I ‘brought’ my house for :laugh_at::laugh_at:
