all the cuts. but tomorrow one in specific.. to highlight the 43% cut in NHS Primary Care Trust funding for HIV prevention services in London. We will Occupy. Resist and then transform.. PM me for details.
May 28, 2011 at 8:25 am #1239904why make it a thing about being queer though? We need all the help we can get fighting the cuts, surely just “resistance” would be better?
May 28, 2011 at 8:33 am #1239902i started playing mafia 2 the other day and i think it’s wank.

definatly! we are just a sub-group of UKuncut who like extra said, all identfiying LGBT
May 28, 2011 at 10:31 am #1239905ah right I get it a bit more if you’re part of a bigger group, just always confuses me when groups who need as much support for their movement as they can get cut out half their audience by making it a gay/black/whatever thing
May 28, 2011 at 10:43 am #1239906Not having a go by the way, I think it’s great what you’re doing, I just feel like there’s a point I’m missing.

I think the wider and bleaker problem is that compared to 20 years ago (when I was doing such things) people have become more divided and judgmental even within so-called “activist” groups, so chaps like Pike Tom Us have to even fight their corner.
otherwise as you say they wouldn’t need to have the separate bit as it wasn’t needed 20 years ago as much.
May 28, 2011 at 11:22 am #1239907Fair enough, I see what you’re saying.
May 28, 2011 at 11:27 am #1239888It is a bit wierd even to someone of my generation because you’d have a group protesting cuts or what the govt was doing and those what were LGBT or ethnic minority would just be there and not have to justify their differences to the wider group.
that said things weren’t perfect back then either I remember in my teenage years how the trendy “anarchist” types weren’t initially as accepting of me as I was more a casual into dance music (forerunner of a chav) than a goth and I worked reasonably hard at school and part time job so I was one of “thatcho’s lackeys” to a extent..
also a lot of people latch on to protest as “dissent for dissent’s stake” but when it comes to true solidarity or hard work to get something genuinely alternative and off the ground they fall short..

What you up to?
Personally, no money and nothing to do even if I had it raaa:hopeless:
not much happening here either – even toyed with the idea of going to Sensitize but its £21 just to get to Yarmouth (which is fucking outrageous really) and the trains are stopped at Stowmarket tomorrow so its a sketchy bus journey back from there, and TBH all my friends have either moved away or dropped out of partying or live miles away and don’t go raves any more, and the thought of being on my own at a rave with everyone half my age no longer really appeals to me..
May 28, 2011 at 2:17 pm #1239890hmm, completely forgot about the beer festival raaa – and I’ve been good and not touched booze for a entire week as well 😉
will need to set off early though so I can get a parking space (they have a really smart idea, a big metal rail to park bikes against but this town is full of cyclists what like real ale)..
(note to self: fix rear light on second bike before setting out.. )
