August 13, 2007 at 6:41 pm #1118245You might find it difficult to get in at all if you live up to your name.
I think they have a very heavy drug screening program.
If you do get in and then fail a test, it won’t look good on your discharge papers or whatever they give you.
Anyway, do you really want to contribute to killing people? I think it’s one thing to sign up if your country is under attack but it seems a bit silly right now.
I have a friend who came back from Afghanistan last year with a perforated eardrum, a detached retina, and shrapnel scars all over his face and neck. The 3 people he was with when they got hit are dead.

However there is a lot of cocaine use in the Army, mainly because leaves your system relatively quick.
I wouldn’t join, for one thing I wouldn’t agree with what I was fighting for. But then, they pretty much train you to do, not think. My mates older brother came back from Iraq mentally scarred. He kicked the shit into his own dad, over a petty argument. He’d never done anything of the kind before. It has turned him oblivious to the effect of violence, if that makes sense.

I know about the random drugs tests and ive given it all up now anyways, ive worked for the government in the past on navel bases so i have a rough idea of what to expect. im not going in for the army either raf or navy to be honest, i have always wanted to serve my country lol i know it may sound abit old fashioned but i think it makes you a proud person, knowing that the ppl around you are all in the same frame of mind all wanting to get the job done.
I have been going over all the good points and all the bad points everyday since i sent of my papers and everytime the outcome always ends up me joining, but its not for everyone, its taken me a few yrs of partying, travelling and basically fooking about to realise this is what i wanna do :bounce_fl

I don’t remember there being too many terrorist attacks in the UK until we started a war for no reason.
Remember that most of the “Intelligence” that was used to justify the war at the start has now turned out to be to be fakery and lies. Plagerised, word for word, including punctuation errors, from a fictional piece that was written for someone’s university thesis.
I must say, I wouldn’t fight for a government that did that.

August 14, 2007 at 4:10 pm #1118247There’s no doubt that there will be a lot of change in the wolrd power balance over the next 20 years.
Remember the story about the feeble blade of grass and the mighty oak tree. When the wind came the grass bent and then came back up when the wind passed. But the mighty oak tree tried to fight the wind and was broken.I don’t think that ‘might is right’ and I don’t believe that ‘peace through superior firepower’ is a viable long-term foreign policy.
People need to learn more about the reasons for the anger and work towards taking them away.
Not just blowing all the angry people away. It won’t work.
