I am still trying to get the hang of some of those moves.
I has given me many many years of amusement!

i guess its the same with anything new once you have been to loads of raves it gets samey like with everything you end up chasing that same buzz you got when you first did something

I understand what you mean but think in this case its a different perspective and more to do with your own learning and maturity and how an alternative culture develops.

the “honeymoon” period with partying and drugs (particularly MDMA) is a common thing and in reality the best part of this actually lasts for only a few months. (its also why people move to K and other worse drugs from MDMAas they get “bored”) Even teenagers and other new ravers start getting jaded after as little as 6 months of partying (I was feeling like that in 1992).

obviously it wasn’t so bad that I jacked it in then although a lot of people did and it seems nowadays many people party for a lot less time in their lives.

this is more an issue of wondering why even young people tend to be so fascinated with the party scene from 1988-1992. The times from the late 90s to early 2000s were way better, although sadly in the end (unlicensed) parties actually became a victim of their own success..

And if whatever people did round here hadn’t led to the backlash we could have had a “reunion” in the same area (only 20 miles from where I am now) and that is the fault of the “old skool” ravers (not even the new ones, as Essex got locked down first out of all east anglian counties)

            • pills costing £15-20, “better” but you’d be at risk of getting ripped off (£12 top pills)
            • loads of simmering racial tension between blacks and whites
            • (Never seen This)
            • violence common and frequent in legal events (linked to the above)
            • Not oop north though you might have seen it with the asians which is still the same today though not at partys
            • if you got caught for even 5 pills you could get a heavy fine or prison (rather than just caution today)
            • you get this still today in some ares
            • comedowns were worse (maybe because of better pills)
            • true
            • cops were often more hassle
            • nope still the same
            • dodgy nonces at parties (like age 40+) with young teenage girls (age 12 upwards) as trophy girlfriends and getting away with it too if they were DJ’s/promoters (some are finally getting nicked today, as the girls have found the courage to talk to the feds)
            • still the same if you go to the arch way project in manchester
            • loads of people went on to crack and smack from party drugs (usually at afterparties)
            • anybody got a ten bag?

            THIS
was the reality of the old-skool days

TBH I think what is seen as “fancy dress” today may simply be what people normally wore at raves in those days :laugh_at:

I suspect most of East Anglia would go for it but would “they” ever let such things happen again?

Been raving since 1991 but I’m new to this area (only from 2006) so I don’t know the full history of rave in East Anglia, although I have had really good chats with those who were there at various stages “back in the day” – and many who claim Essex is the birthplace of hardcore (which ties up with my knowledge of oldskool)

heard some rare old stories, both good and bad and it seems this was once one of the most hardcore regions of the country, and maybe it all got a bit extreme at some points… I can see why the feds and normals got a bit jittery as people were doing immense amounts of party drugs, but the mid 90s clampdowns had a worse effect, now peopel do immense amounts of the worse class As.. seems like kids in Colchester and Ipswich now often bypass the pills and go straight to crack and brown…

will there ever be some sort of compromise, or maybe East anglians just don’t do compromise? (everyone here is known for stubbornness…)
