My current setup includes a Hercules 2.1 speaker set, A Lenco PA-80, and I also have some scrap AIWA speakers.
I want to be able to wire all of my speakers together. The Hercules is an active set, and the Lenco is a portable active speaker. The AIWA speakers on the other hand are passive and so I need an amplifier where I can have two or more inputs, with atleast 3 outputs.
For the outputs, there must be 1 speaker wire output for the AIWA’s, and then clinch for the other two.
Anyone know any good Amp I can get?
February 28, 2013 at 9:33 am #1267954what country are you in? (this affects what sort of kit you can get) Sony make a 2 channel AV receiver (which TBH is actuallly a rebadged AIWA) which is 100W RMS per channel. I use this for my passive speakers (I don’t usually use active ones for my main listening).
You want to look for a similar amp with two “record” outputs – then you could use the “record” outputs to feed the input of the other active speakers.

I currently live in Germany, but I can get stuff shipped over from the UK.

conrad do some reasonable kit and have a good reputation across Northern Europe. If German is your first language (or you can at least read it, I can just about decipher it though speaking it usually ends up with me speaking a mixture of steenkolenduits / plat) there seems to be a slightly better selection on the German language website.

Yes please.
An amp in need is an amp indeed, but an amp with..
February 28, 2013 at 7:13 pm #1267956I wouldn’t bother about getting a ‘good’ amp for your setup (as you mention your speakers aren’t great). Unless you’re buying with the intention of upgrading the speakers at some point, just go for the cheapest one you can find at your local second hand shop or ebay that has a ‘record out’ (intended for sending a feed to a tape/minidisc deck), and a second ‘pre-out’ (often used for connecting a sub-woofer). Connect your two sets of powered speakers to these outputs, and your passive speakers to the amplified outputs. It’s worth bearing in mind that the ‘pre-out’ will be controlled by the volume knob on the amp, whereas the ‘rec out’ won’t, which will makes it awkward to adjust the total volume level.
I have a Cambridge Audio A5 that has rec out and pre out. I’ve used it to drive various sets of half-decent hifi speakers over the years and it’s never given me any problems, so I could recommend that if you want suggestions?
I would question though, why you would want to use all of these speakers at the same time. It will give a strangely coloured sound and won’t be much louder than just using the loudest set of speakers on their own. If you say you have the money to get stuff shipped from the UK, maybe you should spend the money on a cheap second hand amplifier and buy some half-decent used speakers from ebay.
