Thought i’d finally start posting here,
SJ is bad news, and is in my opinion beginning to have a severe negative effect on the scene.
Good to see some sensible switched on heads over here.
Hello to general lighting.

Yeah mate, server change overs and issues are making her run real slow!
Munt is good mate, excellent in fact, we’ve cleared out most of the bad guys, and are working hard to maintain a safe and happy party environment!

MY OPINION IS PARTYVIBES WHERE I GOTO HAVE A SENSIBLE CHAT ABOUT PARTY RELATED THINGS
SQUATJUICE, IS JUICE. GOSSIP. A LAUGH. PLACE TO MAKE FRIENDS IN THE SCENE AND LAUGH AT RANDOMERS CONVOSATIONS.
BLACKOUTAUDIO CATERS FOR ALL MY MUSICAL NEEDS.
I THINK IF SJ AND PV MERGED IT WOULD BE CHAOS. BUT SPERATELY THEY HAVE THEIR USES.
March 11, 2005 at 4:58 pm #1064712I think the scene is in a dire state.
There are people who say too much on there.
Stupid posts.
And the party announcements are so heavily monitored by the police its untrue.
We make it too easy for them, and it needs to stop

I used to use SJ loads until my work blocked it….
Although the board is alarming to outsiders, I wouldn’t say its that much of a threat to the scene – those people in society who do not accept raves are going to hate ravers and their culture no matter how “sensible” they may be on the internet, and there are plenty who will never change their views no matter how “fluffy” we may be..
ITs a bit like the difference between the Mirror and the Grauniad I suppose… a conservative is never going to accept the views in those papers, nor would a liberal accept those in the Torygraph and Daily Mail…
the only minor threats IMO are that sometimes amongst the gossip and arguments, pearls of info that cops/antis could use against us sometimes leak out; also the personal arguments could end up dissuading crews from working together in real life..
On any message board or net.community, there are (usually) real human beings at the end of each screen name, and I really can’t see how people can use each other as emotional punchbags on comedowns on a message board and expect friendships to last
March 11, 2005 at 5:08 pm #1064714Anonymousparty communication is one of the real killers at the mo. its the old not “too bait, but not too quiet” problem. someone was sayin on another post how its really hard to find out about freeparties, but for the rozzers its a pile of piss. its just that not many people know how to get party numbers, and if they did get em, wouldnt trust em. they are even a bit mythical in some areas…i guess its just who you know, and what you’re up for (lets face it, the effort of getting to raves must be more than for anyother night out, for most folk)
since we know that the fuzz know, is it worth just going “fuck it, lets flyer, poster and promote these parties as if they are legal.”? i know i’m tempted, the scene has a massivly underused potential, no-one is doing parties that are what we’re capable of yet, even tho theyre phat…
i saw that kaccina (i think) were doing text message/ mailing list party notifications, how bait is that? the pigs dont even have to log on, they get notified! anyway, there must be a decent solution to this, im fucked if i know 🙁

Rave crews do make flyers, but pass them around in small quantities at trusted places (shared houses, squats etc).
Be careful with college and uni, as cops/ police support workers are also sometimes are getting an education there! (there are quite a few on day release or graduate trainees for CID in some institutions)
IMO there are actually plenty of ravers about to keep this scene going – I didn’t think the Ridgeway parties last year were short of numbers 🙂
14 years ago there wasn’t any internet to spread the word – and mobile phones were few and far between. Even so, parties still attracted thousands by word of mouth alone.
Also if people are encouraged to put a little effort into finding out about these events; it tends to keep them to those who actually believe in free parties and not the random chavs and townies who may well cause trouble….

If you have no idea how they work or that they even exist finding out that there are such free spirited party events can be hard.
once people have been once they normaly want to go more and more and as they meet people they find out about the different parties. the trick is gettin new vergin ravers to your events and impressing them.

thats one of the reasons we try and keep this place friendly and on a level where the site can still easily be accessed at colleges, libraries and offices – even if we can’t be as blatant about partylines on the net we can still teach people about how free parties work..

Public Entertainment Licence laws etc.
