older tracks and its been great preparation for making my own stuff which
i hope to upload as and when .anyway hears the tracklisting…may be familiar to some of the older folks here

November 15, 2008 at 1:03 pm #1065299December 24, 2008 at 12:35 pm #1065226Just a quick thought. What is the optimum size to get the most from the mix and also attract the most people to download. Now when i look at the mixes i do tend to naturally look at the size of the file, and i tend not to down load any mixes over a certain size. F*** knows why, might be a hangup from the dial up days. Also i tend to accociate the size with length ( yes thankyou no jokes please).
So like the supermarkets do, pahaps some opinions and facts so we can find the optimum size length for mixes.
Now there is also a point about the type of music youll be listening too, for example, drumk and base mixes optimum length would for this purpose be an hour long. fast beat cant hold it that fast for too long heheh, and pahaps an ambient trance mix would be 3 hours, you see where im coming from.
Of course theres always a chance im talking utter bollocks, in which case ingnore me and mix it how big and long you want.:crazy_diz
anyway theres a welth of experience with everyone here so it might be usfull for people making mixes and people chosing which ones to download when thinking about what they want the mix for. Trippy mush or hyper fast bouncing around the room. For me its the new craze of computer chair raving. Dont even have to stand on my fucked up knees( from dancing in the early 90s i might add) actually probv wasnt the dancing hehe.
Right got to go theres two chaps knockihng at the door, thats funny they have a strqaight jacket with them. mmmmmmmmmDecember 24, 2008 at 12:47 pm #10652951990again;252014 wrote:Just a quick thought. December 24, 2008 at 1:00 pm #1065227cd , whats that, we are not held in the cd box anymore, mp3 computer hard drives, does anyone actually down load a mix from here and burn it on to a cd, what a fag, cant be arsed and if you did burn ont a cd, you always forget to write whats on it, and say ‘ill do that later’ 3 years down the line you find a pile what looks like blank cds, only to find all those excellent mixes you put all that time downloading and the burning onto disk in a pile sctratched to fuck and usless….

alot of people download mixes put them on cd and play them in there cars on the way to/from work/parties so mock all you will … imo that is the best lenth for a mix :you_crazy
December 24, 2008 at 1:13 pm #1065167@1990 have you started on the christmas sherry early? 😉
December 24, 2008 at 1:16 pm #1065229mmmm dont take it too seriously, it was just something that popped in my head, belive me whan something pops in there it gets tied down and kept there lol.
The point im was trying to put accross, that now you have expanded and said why you think cd length is best(sort of) is what makes people tick when they look to down load a mix, i hate to think of djs putting loads of time and effort into a 2 hour epic mix if no one downloads it or half of it never gets listened too because the public only listen to that type of mix for an hour max.
And for dial up age, i was talking sub conciously about it, i was posing a quesion to stimulate a discussion, and it also would be good as part of this to include how many people burn mixes onto cd, as this is a valid point when deciding the length of a mix.
I was only pulling your leg about very short posts to get your count up, i havnt looked at any of your other posts and im sure if i was to look id find lots of thought provoking and interesting replys and threads you have particitpated in…:group_hugDecember 24, 2008 at 1:18 pm #1065230hehe DJ , yes croft original hehe
showing my age now.
i thought it was an interesting point to look at for the dj.

personaly i just download any size file as i normaly listen to them from my pc any way …. but i know from what some other people have posted about this forum that some people do burn them onto cd for various reasons .. the thing is if you make a mix over 1.20 then even if you wanted to burn it onto cd you couldn’t with out cutting some of the mix off the end/begining .. so by making your mix longer than that you are instantly losing the people that want to put it on cd from your possible downloaders or they are loosing some of your mix – it’s a loose loose situationi prefer longer mixes to shorter ones as they take you on more of a jurny .. so it’s wouldn’t be good if all the mixes were just 1.20 …
to be perfectly hounsest what i think the main draw to a mix would be (for me anyway) the name/genra with a discription … if i like the sound of it .. i will download it .. if i don’t then i will choose something else over it ..
