doesn’t seem that odd. meowing with my cat was definitely productive for both of us, and the nest of yellow necked mice what all got away as initially we misinterpreted the hunting signals. (some English nature boffins told me this was also good as them mice are rare unless there is good weather and as there is no need for either of us to eat mice they should be allowed in the ecosystem anyway.)
