This 100% isn’t Goa trance. It isn’t hard psytrance either, let alone very hard psytrance, unless by ‘hard’ you mean of the cheesy hard house ilk, which it is indeed pretty close to. I’d say this was typical cheesy full on psy with some twilight/South African-style psy thrown in for ‘good’ measure. 😛 The ravey side of psytrance. As you said, it isn’t really psytrance to take acid to. This is total pill-head ‘psy’trance. ;P
I smoked DMT and listened to half of this album last night. Not exactly chilled out but it is seriously the most psychedelic release I have ever heard. Such an intricate album; the way it flows from trance to just utter weirdness seemlessly leaves me in awe every time I hear it.
I seriously recommend tripping and listening to it as I can pretty much guarantee that your mind will be blown.

Psytrance hasn’t been psychedelic for years. Now it’s just a variation of of hard house / techno / trance, a hypnotic grove and little more.
Psychedelic music should challenge you, surprise you, make you wonder what the fuck is going on. Psytrance is generic, repetitive, and it all sounds the same. There is nothing psychedelic about it.
Disagree. There is still some very, very psychedelic psytrance out there. You’re just hearing the wrong stuff (probably the generic full-on judging by your description).
This track, for example, was released this year. Extremely psychedelic! I find it surprises the hell out of me and definitely, definitely makes me wonder what the fuck is going on. 😉

Here’s another ridiculously psychedelic track from the artist Whrikk. His music is proper mind-bending.

I’m a complete psytrance obsessive. Am just about to hit the sack but will reply tomorrow evening with a list of stuff I find very decent. Proper dark, psychedelic shit. 🙂
Edit: In regards to your point about drugs and psy, I think the full-on stuff is best on MDMA and the dark stuff best on psychedelics. So yeah, get the tryptamines in your system and check out the track I posted below, in my next post.
I’ll also post some stuff up with builds and drops. I don’t tend to like that sort of stuff as I don’t like conventional 4/4 dance music structures, but there are some good tracks out there…
The links aren’t working because you’re hyperlinking YouTube’s mobile site…
Kick seems reeeally loud in all of his tracks… Kinda drowns everything else out, IMO. Not bad, though, but still got a bit to go (IMO). 🙂

I see what you did there, hehe. As you know, I’m not really a fan of techno, but there were some good’uns in there. 🙂 Hope you’re well, Brian!
This is definitely my favourite fan video, however:

Bahahaha.
In all honesty, though, I really don’t know. This video is great, though:
September 19, 2012 at 9:48 am in reply to: MC G-Tek – True Friends (for anyone who’s ever had a proper good mate) #1258029‘Extrapolating the Mick’ – that’s bloody awesome! Great little rap there, dude. 😀

That’s fucking slamming. Like the hard bits muchly! I just hate the way techno DJs and producers use gratuitous amounts of high-pass filters. So annoying and totally kills the vibe for me. Just wanna hear that pounding relentlessness all the time, haha. ;D
No worries. 🙂 There are loads more, like the recent Parvati Records releases. Will post some more stuff up soon, hehe.
‘Shakti Tandav’ is one of my favourite, more recent releases.

YUM!
Orestis – ‘Recursive Consciousness’ is one of the best artist albums I’ve heard that was released quite recently. (OK, 2010 isn’t that recent, but it’s such a consistently brilliant album – flows so well – something a lot of artists albums lack, IMO).

Also, this release is bound to be epiiiic.
Jangaramongara – Proud (Humanoid Interface – Rmx) – YouTube
Deeeeeeeeep… 🙂

I remember that song. Quite possibly the most intense thing I’ve ever heard.
dBlue Glitch fills sound too obvious, IMO… May be better to use a different plug-in; either that or manually glitch stuff, which is infinitely more fun.
Dark psyyyyyyy!!!
I love all types of psytrance, though, as well as black metal (and other styles of metal), post-rock, shoegaze, film score music, IDM… 🙂
Sonic Species – ‘Machina Terra’ and Hypnocoustics – ‘Budhha Nature EP’ are both very good, deep, melodic psytrance EPs. E-Clip’s latest album is also awesome – proper driving sunshine tunes!
The music in this vid is excellent. 😀 Cheers for posting – he seems like a nice chap!
Have what?
I don’t like dubstep, but I wouldn’t say it’s meaningless. If people get enjoyment out of it, then it has a valid reason to exist. Let the dubsteppers enjoy their music and just go out to nights where music you’re into is played. 😛
This has been a ‘problem’ for a while, innit – the Beatport psytrance charts seem to always be filled with the more minimal psy stuff. There was a discussion on Psy Forum about it, and generally psytrance people find it too technoey but techno people find it too psytrancey, haha.
I <3 Sensient's last album. Psygressive with a spattering of minimal that works perfectly.
October 11, 2011 at 12:43 am in reply to: Onkel Dunkel – Use Your Head (Parvati Records) PRVCD22 #1245576This should be a raaaaaaaaather tasty album. =)
Psytrance, especially the forest psy subgenre (and general nighttime psytrance stuff).
Lovely stuff!!!
Mate, this is fucking cool. You’re gettin’ a lot better at this. 🙂 Mix sounds pretty damn good, but I’m not listening to it on my monitors atm. Reckon you could send me a copy of it as well? Would love to have it on my mp3 player. 🙂
