its very difficult to electrocute yourself on a standard 13A socket unless you have used an unsafe plug or have bypassed the safety features… the British electrical system is safest in the world and is something our engineering profession should be proud of..

i have no idea how he managed it. basically the place i work is a very old historical pub and we were in the middle of a massive refurbishment because nothing had been changed for about thirty years, possibly longer. he was fiddling with something or other behind the bar when we heard a yell.
needless to say, for the rest of the day everyone took the living piss out of him though: “well, that wasn’t very safe now was it nick?” and such-like.

thinking about it, the wiring was so old it probably wasn’t his fault but ah well…still damn funny…:groucho:

health and safety guys are morons, or ours are anyway. last guy who audited our work managed to electrocute himself by sticking his finger in a live socket. seriously.

i swear. a lot. it’s more than simply part of our culture, swear words have a fundamental function within our language. when you’re pissed off you swear. i find it hilarious when people get all horrified by use of ‘the c word’. it’s just a fucking word, and a useful one at that. if you say cunt while expressing an emotion i.e. he’s a fucking cunt, people know you mean business. the controversy side of swear words is relative, if we didn’t treat swear words as socially unacceptable, then they wouldn’t be so controversial. who defines a word as taboo? essentially we do. i don’t think that words that are essentially intangible and incoherent in terms of real meaning or real shock value should be given such controversial definitions. now, racial swear words, they have real meaning. they are innately derogatory and therefore are worthy of the shock and controversy they create. but fuck, shit, bollocks, whatever all have fairly tame real definitions; to have sex, poo and male genetalia. now whats so shocking about that?

i don’t curb my swearing anywhere, a lot of my mates can’t believe i swear so much in front of my nan or my parents, but you know what i say to them? i couldn’t give a flying fuck 🙂

well obviously it isn’t my intention to make people feel like lab rats, but if thats how you feel then ignore me. i’m just interested in what other people think.

i’ve been raving for quite a few years now and am just really chuffed that i’m being allowed to work on something that i’m interested in and feel passionate about, which is also why i want to be able to do my project justice and show a broad spectrum of ideas and opinions which i can back up with first-hand research that doesn’t just come from my mates! i’m not trying to analyse anyone, just trying to properly represent the raving community, which i think is more diverse in terms of people, ideas and opinions than any other i have ever experienced. some people don’t like to be referred to as part of a ‘scene’ or community and think that to define it as such is to label it which is often percieved as a negative thing. i disagree. i have never experienced such a communal spirit as it exists within the rave scene, and to deny its existence is to deny what makes it so damn special.

anyway, if you want to help me out by contributing then do so, if not then don’t. i appreciate your comment anyway.
