Biography
A Tel Aviv based DJ, Composer & Producer. Born in October 1982, Omri Smadar is today one of Tel Aviv’s most talented and diverse electronic music figuers. Growing up in a small Kibbutz as a promising Classical and Jazz Pianist, Smadar started his career rather far from the dark clubs of the city. It was after visiting Jamaica in 2005 when he decided to become a DJ, and formed one of Israel’s most famous Reggae Sound Systems, Abuya Sound.
Smadar preformed as a Reggae & Dancehall selector for 6 years, touring Europe and Jamaica, while finishing his degree in classical music composition in Jerusalem Academe Of Music. leaving his sound system in 2011, he started to DJ electronic dance music under the alias Libra Discotheque, under which he kicked off his first productions: Re-edits of rare Disco gems as well as Middle Eastern obscurities.
in 2014 Smadar signed his debut release on Ostra Discos imprint. the track name Muzika Salim was an immediate banger, receiving massive support from the likes of Acid Arab & G’ilber (Versatile) to name just a few. Currently playing regularly at Tel Aviv’s biggest clubs, such as The Block and Bootleg, and working on his first studio album.
