Biography
About The House of David Gang:
House of David Gang is an uplifting Canadian reggae band that draws on the roots sounds of 1970s Kingston, Jamaica. They carry on the long history of top notch Toronto reggae, taking their name from an after-hours hang out on Queen Street West, which was popular with Toronto’s Rastafarian and reggae community. Since the release of their album Reggae Warrior on NuFunk Records – produced by Snappy Homefry with the support of The Ontario Arts Council and FACTOR – House of David Gang have become Canada’s hardest touring reggae band. In the past five years, the group has played over 200 dates across Canada, including headlining sold-out tributes to Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Jamaican 50th Anniversary events. They have shared the stage with top artists such as Xavier Rudd, The Mighty Diamonds, Big Youth, Bushman, Mad Professor, Dawn Penn, Leroy Sibbles, and Ill Scarlett. The band has performed at some of Canada’s top music festivals including Guelph’s Hilllside Festival, Fredericton’s Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, The Calgary International ReggaeFest, B.C.’s Shambhala Festival, and Nova Scotia’s Evolve Festival. A career highlight for the band was a performance for over 30,000 people at The Freedom Festival at Queen’s Park in Toronto.
