I am setting up a new online radio stream In cooperation with Party Vibe, ICR-FM and Internet-Radio.com – specialising in house, techno/minimal and trance (basically all EDM genres with a 4/4 beat below 140bpm, as there are plenty other streams for all the other genres). It will have a “European” feel music wise though there is no reason why anyone in the world could not sumbit a mix..
initially it will be playing pre recorded shows scheduled in a repeating block (so that everyone gets to hear them even if they are in a different country time zone, plus its a lot easier for DJ’s) until I can get enough feedback on what is popular when also I will schedule things not to compete with the existing PV live broadcasts.
If any DJ’s who are regularly uploading mixes to here are OK with me doing this please let me know (and if you have others to share too)
best format for playout is 192k MP3, preferably normalised to -1dbFS absolute max level (nothing over, even if your kit can handle it listeners equipment might not)
if you have access to a cloud based storage service I can download your mix from that is best – I am not looking for exclusive rights (like some online stations seem to want).
and if you do want to host a live show please reply on here as well as we can sort that out for you (if you want to do this its also good to be active on the forum as that makes interaction easier)
peace, love and geese..

I’d be interested in that aswell mate if it wasn’t to much trouble! Lot of good trance came out in 98/99.
If anyone is going to do a mix for GL and needs some tunes i’ll gladly help..
March 24, 2013 at 9:21 pm #1270005Thanks 🙂 slowly loading up the server with the first few mixes (they will be from NZK (UK) , DJ James Black (UK) , robbie4ever (NL) & DJ Nico (BE) and cathouse point remix 5))
Got a few more on the way
Scheduling won’t be set in stone yet for reasons given above plus its a bit more of a learning curve than just checking the control panel for when livestreams are running.
I’m wondering whether it is better to schedule the house and trance shows separately or run them intermingled?
I personally prefer the 80s/90s pirate days where stations played a mixture of genres and you could hear anything at any time, I’m trying to get that sort of atmosphere but with new technology and much better sound quality (and not having to be paranoid about Ofcom, nor climb roofs at odd hours 😉 )
If Titch sees this, do you have any of your house mixes for download?

No probs mate, will make sure to send the link your way man!
March 25, 2013 at 12:03 am #1270014i like to play house at around 140 for a more electro feel, is this acceptable?
March 25, 2013 at 12:16 am #1270006At that speed (though it does sound way faster than normal) I could fit it in after one of rob’s trance anarchy mixes which are 140bpm and the fastest I would normally put on…
have you got anything in a decent audio format rather than sending it through youtube? if you are only doing those shorter mixes you might even be able upload them as a WAV file or a FLAC, as its a hassle to unpick a audio stream out of a youtube video and I don’t trust the compression on youtube anyway (especially if you are using anything else at your end to make the mix sound “bigger” like most DJ’s do nowadays for a pre-recorded show..)
March 25, 2013 at 12:37 am #1270011What no speedcore!!

christ on a mountain bike, its hard enough trying to schedule 3 genres as it is, finding mixes, sorting out levels/dynamics, fixing metadata and waiting for stuff to upload…
There is no reason why hardstyle, speedcore and gabba could cannot play on the livestream alongside the other faster genres, we still need live DJ’s as well..
March 25, 2013 at 3:22 am #1270008stream currently testing here (just on a rotated playlist as I haven’t quite worked out the scheduled playlists yet or tested them properly…)
you are better off posting here than the farcebook comments thing as I don’t have a FB account and I tried using yahoo etc but it just doesn’t work, in any case the URL has been fixed to direct the discussion back to here…
There is slightly more soundprocessing on this than a PV live stream for the benefit of those listening on smaller speakers rather than a big hi fi (such as PC desktop speakers), and to avoid vast changes in level between sets but I’ve tried to preserve dynamic range as much as possible… any comments/suggestions on quality welcome (as everything can be tweaked in response to listener suggestions)

I grew up with James, and was V-good mates with James’s younger brother Joe, We actually went to school together! (assuming it’s the same person, but it’s the same name, and I know he DJ’s a lot of house/trance and was quite successful back in the day with his DJing and promotion. He and his friends had several big named nights going on locally that hit the big mainstream club circuit.
It’s possible there’s more then one person with that name that dabbles in this music, but would be interesting to find out if it’s him. I actually once did a pirate radio show with him when I was still in school if it’s the same James Black! :laugh_at:
April 15, 2013 at 7:43 pm #1270018Sorry for the delay GL, have literally just finished getting that mix converted to MP3, so will have it uploaded for you probably by tomorrow dude.
April 21, 2013 at 7:58 am #1270009Even though I’m still in testing I’m getting listeners from Serbia and the Netherlands as well as Malaysia..
I’ve added UMEK to the playlist (originally from 12:00 on Saturday but now it wil be from 12:00 on Wednesday, I might shift this later on to the afternoon but in such a way not to clash with Browner’s live stuff)
Slowly working out how the scheduling / playout system works (its not that bad if you use your brain and can count times to the nearest second) – though net stations are not as “fussy” as broadcast ones about timing, “dead air/gaps” is still to be avoided
This is an electronic flyer I did.. which also directs the discussion back to here so hopefully more people will sign up.
April 22, 2013 at 3:46 pm #1270019For some reason, I don’t seem to be able to upload that mix mate, will have another go later. Didn’t we used to have an uploads section on here somewhere?
April 22, 2013 at 5:17 pm #1270022Listening to a Robbie4Ever mix on there now.. its nice 😉
April 23, 2013 at 6:42 pm #1270020Fuck, shit and bollocks! I can’t upload that mix cos I keep getting a message saying that it exceeds the 7.75mb limit I am allowed for such files. Pissflaps!
April 26, 2013 at 8:39 am #1270010currently testing live playout (as I’ve got a day off from work due to the builders working downstairs 🙂 )
April 26, 2013 at 12:30 pm #1270023Like the cathousepoint mixes too. Some good trance.
