Went on to leicester on friday to see aba shanti-i and emperorfari ive been to a couple of dubwise nights and it’s really growing on me. The venue was banging downstairs in a basement the ceiling was crumbling and dust was coming down constantly (not sure if it was even a legal venue). there was one bouncer who was jammin out burning up as was everyone else inside. the vibes were so nice and positive and im sure the £10 pills also helped although next time i just fancy drinking and smoking. I dont know many dubwise/roots systems and want to see more! please inform me of more systems/nights out i should check out!

https://www.facebook.com/RootsGuidanceSound?fref=ts mates of mine running a small system in london, they did this this year
One Love Festival 2013 – The Uk’s Number 1 Reggae and Dub Camping Peace Festival – apparently it’s 10000 mostly proper rastas bless em. my mate said he got funny looks for smoking a cigarette 🙂 lots of dub – check out the soundsystems taking part and you’ll find a trove of event info.
Home – JAH LION – another soundsystem.
KING EARTHQUAKE | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos the big bad 70000w camo coloured beasty with a 70-odd yo rasta doing the selecting. One of the best nights out I have ever been to was a Earthquake vs. Lion Heart Soundclash alongside a psytrance room at the Brixton Mass.
Jah Bless 😉

December 2, 2012 at 7:24 pm #1263045To be fair you can usually find dub anywhere where there are older black folk, especially rastamen. They (quite sensibly) prefer the less aggressive genres to todays urban and dancehall music, although in my town the scenes have crossed over slightly and there is nearly as much dancehall on the dub / roots show.
On our local crew who broadcast on the radio system one of the rasta dudes carries various “tings” to the show (CD’s mostly, but there was various electronic kit as well, perhaps a dub siren?) in a shopping trolley of the sort your nan would use.

December 2, 2012 at 9:09 pm #1263050haha ive not witnessed that myself, i know a few rasta’s some vary from guys who burn up and drink and have lose beliefs about the rastafari movement, but i have others that are devout and mainly smoke thai stick or some bushweed and rarely smoke chronic. its not that i dont know alot about the reggae scene and the people who associate thremselfs with it but i find at rastafari sound systems the vibe in the place is amazing and quite spiritual! also the people there are all lovely 🙂
December 2, 2012 at 9:17 pm #1263048Well i imagine Brixton to be good for you in that respect lol..
Have a funny memory of going through there at like midnight, just after i came out of seeing Jack White live (fucking amazing guitarist btw) and there was a rasta cycling along the road with a boombox blasting reggae and smoking a spliff haha :lol_big: -
