Looking for the kind of slider knob found on Behringer and similar small mixers with 60mm faders, in various colours. the operating arm (metal bit what the knob fits into) is 4.0mm by 1.4mm. (the small Soundcraft mixers have the same kind but a different type of knob similar to those found on large pro audio mixers)
Can’t find the buggers anywhere in this country. Searched CPC, canford, all the usual places but no luck.
Anyone got any ideas?
July 11, 2012 at 1:27 pm #1255841Use a pencil eraser like I used to.(you gotta wrap it in cellotape first though to avoid friction) well until the bit of metal broke off too. I’ll have a browse for ya though mate

I did speak with them and they simply said as they don’t deal with that make they can’t help. : ( They normaly are very helpfull TBH.
It weird I can’t seem to find them either. I believe the technical term for the whole you have measured is “shaft” so if you speak to any other wholesalers you don’t have to say “I want the bit that goes on top and fits into the little whole” ETC
I’m not gonna give up though so let me know if you find one so that i’m not looking for no reason LOL

Try Mouser Electronics – Electronic Components Distributor, and enter “rean” (no quotes) at the search. They stock neutrick/rean fader knobs in black, 2 sizes, two shaft styles. No minimum, 36 cents each or so. I got 30 for my last mixer rebuild and had them in a week.Re: Slider Knobs for Behringer Mixer?

I did find what I needed at mouser, but not the color options I wanted. I ordered a few 550-77301. If you have the same in colors please let me know.

July 11, 2012 at 2:30 pm #1255839cheers – I couldn’t find the colours either and the Americans have got the spelling of Neutrik wrong but didn’t realise till today Mouser had a UK base and they have loads of other things I hadn’t seen in ages…
I’d already shifted the grey and black ones on my mixer to the two channels for the jingle playout and the red one will be moved from MON SEND (a mono aux channel which I do not use anyway to the mic channel once I’ve fixed the magnets into it with hot glue) but was looking for other colours though (which I think the other folk were as well). Also the profile of the Behringer ones is just right for the magnets to fit into and I am not sure about the others (they may be shallower)
what is annoying is although there are loads for Penny & Giles faders, if I could afford a mixer with them they usually come with the colour coded faders anyway and faders with microswitches in the bottom…
July 11, 2012 at 2:43 pm #1255845There are 2 schools of thought on this – the customer service model, and the “UK Ripoff” model.
The Customer service model, you phone up the manufacturer direct (or contact them by email) and explain how their control mechanisms aren’t robust enough and can you please have a replacement before you sue their arse off. Usually you get one without a court battle (which is the United States model – anyway can sue, anyone else, for any sort of loss).
The “UK Ripoff” model, is, they’ve got your money already, they don’t give a shit if the merchandise is crap, and they assume you don’t have the knowledge, cash or other resources needed for a small claim (less than 5 grand, County Court) or a larger claim (High Court) legal case. And in the vast majority of cases they are completely correct, people really can’t be arsed to go to court over small lumps of plastic and pay up for replacements.
IF you know some nice people with a 3D printer, AND they have spare capacity AND the right coloured plastic AND you know how to make a 3D model in Autodesk – you can make you own, and tell “UK Ripoff” incorporated to kiss your hairy rebel arse. Easier said than done. But very satisfying. 🙂
July 11, 2012 at 5:25 pm #1255840whilst I agree with what you say especially the attitude of UK companies as I once worked for one what was supposedly a pro equipment supplier and treated its customers with contempt, (ironically it got worse when the Americans bought it out) in this case I’ve got no customer service issues with either Behringer or Soundcraft.
The cheap mixers I got from them work well (they are being used in a home studio and not for hard road use).
None of the fader knobs have come adrift and gone missing – I simply wanted a few spares of other colours as I have (successfully) modded a Behringer mixer to give the same functionality as a radio broadcast console with at most €50 of extra bits, without having to do major surgery on the inside of the mixer. I am even currently tidying up the studio so I can photograph this to share the design with everybody.
The nearest equivalent would be a Allen and Heath XB14 which is a nice piece of kit (I’ve used its predecessor before on another community station) but costs €1000. So thats a €750 saving which isn’t to be sneezed at.
I am more perplexed than anything that these commonly used items are not more readily available, whereas similar knobs for rotary faders are numerous. that just doesn’t make sense.
I am making enquiries in Malaysia to see if they can be obtained in the East…
