It looks like you are going for a clean install…but wait until my friend comes a long(then you can take it with him over skype…) he might have some tricks up his sleeve…

I would start to open all up and the close it down step by step to narrow down to the issue…as it is now it is too many variables….

just pull ‘the plug’ if it goes out of control….

get shot of avg and replace it with either avast or microsoft security essentials. use the Windows firewall.

Really though that PC is on the way out and should have at the very least windows reinstalled clean, better to put a new hard drive in it altogether for this and just copy any vital data. This is what I did with my mums old one (which I am using now). though the components might not be have been far off the cost of a “new” HP/Compaq laptop if I wanted a new portable I’d buy a Samsung (they have less intereference) and this is just the right size for my bike panniers (even though Compaqs have always been on the heavy side).

Also go careful with that pirate stuff. I’m not going to moralise excessively about it but because you’re nickign things other folk think its OK to steal your data or your computer resources (or do this as a reprisal because its their mates content what has been robbed) and the unregulated nature of this “community” means you’re expected to look out for yourself.

look at it this way. if in town there was some preacher idiot using a radio mic and portable PA, there are many ways I could not just transmit over their mic, but stalk them to their base location and pay some sketchy ket heads to rob the sound system for my own use. But that would invite reprisals of some sort – it might just be the preacher goes to Suffolk Constabulary but I’m sure they know who I am and they could then go to Ofcom and the foreign feds, link Party Vibe with a real local crime and thus control/censor it more.
