I’ve far seen worse in my old area (Reading), people way younger than me (still in their 20s) willing to not just grass up a rave to the Police and Press but have their names openly reported by the journalists in the main report. This would indicate they feel they totally have the moral high ground and consensus of their peers on their side.
I am not suggesting witness intimidation is in the slightest acceptable (its a far worse crime than doing raves and rightly so) but there was a time younger folk would be simply too ashamed to do this against their own generation, especially for something they knew wouldn’t happen every weekend in that area (BTW it wasn’t a “posh! bit of Reading either) as they would have been judged as interfering nimbys or grasses. However it wasn’t a matter of being “pro criminal” or “anti police” (if they same youth called police on a violent criminal or house burglar there’d often be no problem with it) but simply being British and being able to compromise…
