February 3, 2012 at 7:21 pm #1248845Gaz, maybe try using Ableton, or Reason? I found them quite easy to handle, although that’s more for sample based stuff.

Fair play for being realistic about the challenge ahead of you.
I don’t care if the glass if half empty or half full, as long as it’s got tequila in it.
February 3, 2012 at 8:58 pm #1248801To be fair that audiosauna doesn’t seem so bad and is probably a good thing to start with.
Most of my pro audio experience is in broadcast and distribution (i.e getting the music down various cables and into the wireless airwaves) rather than music production so I’m no expert with such things as synths, but I have dabbled a bit and helped friends build project studios in the past. Scandinavians and other Northern Europeans have a history of providing good open source audio software which goes back 10-20 years, probably as the long cold dark winters encourage people to stay in their houses and do brainy stuff with computers (often fuelled by stimulants) rather than go outside. Its actually way above what we were using 10-15 years ago with standalone kit, although even then our trackers (early form of sequencer software, often basic but free) often came from Finland (I wonder if its the same bunch doing this?)

I’m not sure if the Finns produced the programme, but something is telling me it has a certain Scandinavian feel to it……I’ll have a look see
