There’s a place down the road my dad used to squat, they kicked everyone out last year but they haven’t done anything with it since. What am I going to have to do to get it back? And what are my chances of staying there long enough to bother bringing anything down there?
Cheers
May 5, 2011 at 8:29 pm #1238872Hi Moonie ,
Never Squatted so not sure but are there any signs of security there ? . I imagine if the owner has gone to the trouble of emptying it there are plans for the use of the building ? . I guess keep an eye on and see what the score is .regards
MungoMay 7, 2011 at 1:09 pm #1238870It’s been a year and nothing, and the security is pretty minimal, in fact after a wander around I reckon I could probably just stroll in.
May 7, 2011 at 1:27 pm #1238866Go for it mate and good luck.
May 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm #1238867go for it. dont change any locks, but put bolt locks on the inside of the door. dont break any windows (of if you do, do it a few days before, inconspicuously and then return a few days later) pay the electric and water bills. send a letter to yourself through the post. make it as livable as possible inside. make sure you have a fire exit. probably a good idea to get a fire extinguisher too.
Oh and get a decent crew together and keep it hush hush (you dont want the local brew crew to find out about it). squatting on your own is definatly a no no.. (the building needs to be occupied all the time)

May 8, 2011 at 7:00 pm #1238871Cheers for the advice pike Tom us, the place isn’t connected to the national grid, and has a fresh water spring, so no bills coming in, fire safety is a must, a few years ago there was a big fire in one part because if a candle left going after bed time. Getting in should be fine really, it’s not well protected. As for locks and having people inside all the time, I never knew it was like that, and finding a crew is going to be hard around here because everyone is too minted to bother. Plus no electric etc willput people off. Hopefully I can sort it though
