Anyone concerned with privacy (e.g: home, office, etc) can now browse the forum again using SSL over HTTPS starting at the following address:

      https://www.partyvibe.com/forums/

[STRIKE]However links to sections of the site other than the forum have been hardcoded to use the unencrypted address meaning that by browsing them you will no longer have a “private” connection to our server so this only really applies to the forum for now in a manner of speaking![/STRIKE]

Regardless when you first browse to https://www.partyvibe.com/forums/ you’ll be prompted to accept our security certificate by firefox (see screenshots below) which you should accept despite the warnings. Where Internet Explorer is concerned you should additionally accept content which hasn’t been delivered over an unencrypted connection (i.e: images).

Once complete look at the URL bar of your browser for an HTTPS in the address or a yellow padlock to confirm the connection you’re using is secure and has been encrypted.

      Enjoy.

I’ve added a link to the SSL enabled version of the site in the footer of every page and started working my way through concerting all the links which need to be changed…

The whole website with the exception of the archive should work now using SSL. Let me know if you have any issues…

Having issues logging in with SSL using Chrome. It says I am logged in, redirects and then Chrome pops up with the SSL warning again, and I’m no longer logged in – could just be my browser settings, but thought I’d give you a head’s up.

Have you used StartCom Free SSL Certification Authority I have them sign my certs (for free) and haven’t had any issues with it.

From what I remember they don’t ID check you either… though I could be making that up

I’ll install Chrome and test this. I’m also working on a proper certificate…
