so dont tend to keep u with genres
so sounding rather naive …
I’m not sure what hardstyle is – It sounds as if I wouldnt like it
I like techno, house, deep house, psy, trance and some dnb…..

this one is less melody, more darkness and hard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVIplCYe5Us&feature=related ..
you like it? 🙂

To be fair, there’s more melody in here than there is in a lot of psy. :s

however it is not for me
December 5, 2010 at 2:32 am #1232333Likewise. I can’t stand hardstyle… sounds really tacky IMO, like the bubblegum pop of EDM (just behind happy hardcore).
December 5, 2010 at 2:38 am #1232316tacky? whats that lol
December 5, 2010 at 2:43 am #1232334Tacky | Define Tacky at Dictionary.com :
“crass; cheaply vulgar; tasteless; crude. “
😮 Sorry for being an insulting cunt, heh. I just see it as silly teenage raver music…
December 5, 2010 at 2:47 am #1232307the wonderful thing about being individuals is we all have separate likes and dislikes
be totally boring if we all liked the same thing –
this is something I dont like but hey…:bounce_fl
December 5, 2010 at 7:01 pm #1232311im in 2 minds about htis genre. i dont like the happy hardcore elements to it. but like the hard beat.

the beat is what usually gets me. I prefer the more darker sound, artists like rephex and carnifex have got some belters.

December 7, 2010 at 1:22 am #1232338not enough variation for me personally, and I dont really listen to much stuff that i wouldnt play out myself.

December 8, 2010 at 7:09 pm #1232335A large portion of it dull, chessey, pap.

Done correctly , with pace and heavy hard german trance influences , the filth is divine.

what artists would you recommend,
got any links? :weee:December 8, 2010 at 9:51 pm #1232345I am indeed a fan of Hardstyle.
Only just noticed this thread after I finished recording a mix. Give it a listen and tell me what you think:Spazhazzard – Hardstyle on SoundCloud – Create, record and share your sounds for free

theres some nice tracks on there mate. need work on your mixing though (the beat matching, and timing) cos it sounds like you just fade one track into the next. those tracks could sound even better if you learn the mixing. keep at it man
December 9, 2010 at 9:43 am #1232346Normally I’d do trance music and I’ve not got any effects so its a bit harder than I thought to do hardstyle/hard dance properly. Will keep trying though.
December 9, 2010 at 10:08 am #1232322the structure of mixing trance (esp hard trance) and hardstyle are quite similar so i believe. if you learn one of them properly the other will become just as easy. just feel the music and follow that beat, start the next track towards the end of the current one etc…
December 9, 2010 at 12:51 pm #1232347I’m far better at trance, been doing it for much longer (and its usually vocal and v. chilled out stuff). Not been doing the harder stuff for very long. Lots more work to do but its a start.
Edit: On a side note, his gear is insanely expensive. Wish I wasn’t using such low tech stuff. 🙁
