So utterly happy, brought Gertie today!! :bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl
nice and big (5 1/2 meters long) and high top – can stand up inside etc, cooker, fridge, 4 chairs, table etc
Lovely couple selling, lovely quality and so so pleased!!
and a big thanks to marcus for his patients and driving half way across the country and back ๐
March 13, 2010 at 9:20 pm #1224169congratulations, shes a beauty ๐
did you get it in wales?
:bounce_fl:
March 13, 2010 at 9:20 pm #1224170but come on, what sort of name is gertie..
gurnie? ๐
March 13, 2010 at 9:21 pm #1224171and wheres the inside pics!
March 13, 2010 at 9:23 pm #1224121Yep,
the 3 I was seriously interested were all based in wales, and lots of others I looked at online were too,
I think they have the space and barns to store em in too –the couple were a lady in her 60’s and husband in his 70’s, and they knew what I wanted it for and were chatting about the local ‘raves’ ๐
March 13, 2010 at 9:26 pm #1224172sounds awesome , owners seem as genuine as they get from that too then :weee:
them merc vans are solid from what i hear…

oops….
sorry they not great but here goes…Its fully insulated and warm, We also plan to build a double bed as what they had isnt appropriate for us – they’d used it for her dog tournemnts / shows so she’d not slept in it overnight,
I also plan to make some cute curtains and make it special and hippie it up a bit ๐

they are, and the guy who brought it origionally seems a bit of an anally retented dude from the paperwork and letters that we have – some of them are hilleraous!!
its turbo engine so not sluggish as its a 208D, and they can be a little slow apparently,
they are notouriously reliable engines – going above 250,000 +
the body work is fantastic as its been in a barn – as usually at this age this is what lets them down:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl
so I’ve got my van that has soul, without compromising on what Marcus has been drilling into me – reliability, cost effectivnesss / reliability – feul etc

Lol probably the van as never posted any pics that i can remember of my baby girl puppy on here…
Have you got it insured?? Insuring what is technically called a self build motorcaravan can be a minefield.. I thought mine was insured properly as this, therefore covering all the stuff in it awning etc as that’s what i’d been led to believe.. but NOPE.. it is now.. and ok paying a wee bit more but it’s worth it..
Shout if u need a hand hun xx

Cheers AF!
tell me about it!! I’ve had to leave it with them as they have it fully comp – as it was a saturday the specialist companies had shut by the time we’d finished the (longest ever) test drive, as had managed to get quotes but didnt know if I was defo gonna buy her, so didnt manage to action any of them
So I’m picking her up on sat, and have spend a fair hours on tinternet tonight looking around, and gonna get it sorted this week in prepairation
as didnt want to risk driving her back half way across the country un-insured
I’ve got a few numbers from Tribal living to try too, as there is a whole thread talking about the difficulty of this!March 15, 2010 at 11:20 am #1224185awesome congratz!
March 15, 2010 at 11:39 am #1224164Congratulations! She looks like a clean wagon. Whats have you got for heating inside?
