November 2, 2009 at 7:25 am #1210954Yesterday I was on the train and everyone was being dead miserable and self-absorbed until this one guy started cheerfully speaking to everybody, after a few minutes of persistent effort we had a right mixture of conversations going. It was like the Doctor Who episode Midnight.

Fair play to that man! :laugh_at: I been on the tube before when people have tried this but it never worked. Usually the person is deemed mental and that person is avoided like nun in a leper colony.
I once spoke to a man who at first seemed quite pleasant but then turned out to be an absolute nut bar. Started on an old man near us, started shouting at him and then shouted at everyone saying we all stunk of evil and shit. Even though he had seriously bad bo himself. Right fucking weirdo.
Glad you fared better though Mr Ducky. 😉

I usually start the talking myself, i like to learn.. talking to people is interesting, all different backgrounds etc… and i think for older people sometimes they come out of the shell a little bit and realise all youths are not out to stab them and nick their purses, but we are just like them! with less grey hair and wrinkles..
i usually get quite a lot of free beer too raaaraaaNovember 2, 2009 at 9:12 pm #1210482@MisterDuck 359575 wrote:

on way home from a night out a few years ago on the last train these 2 dudes came on started offering everyone melon, and then started singing and the whole carriage ended up singing ‘queen’s’ amedeous (?sp) some even getting up and joining in with their dancing, it was pure quality
and so fun I even took photos :laugh_at:
November 2, 2009 at 10:04 pm #1211207ah the old singing poisonous melon trick …. i hope you checked your purse after you woke up in the empty train carrage .. that’s a well known pick pocket method ya know
