Is there anything wrong with PV forum or just my PC ?

What’s not working for you? Could I see a screenshot (‘alt’+’print screen’, then ctrl+v into a paint program such as paint.net which can get from http://www.getpaint.net/download.html)?

For example, if I try to select active topics, the lower screen is cut off and it is not possible to scroll down to active topics. Also, when I looked at my profile, most of it was not displayed. The problem is now intermittent. However, I have tried on another PC and the same things were happening.

I just went into a thread (‘psytrance is awsome’). Only the 1st posy is displayed.

Very strange.

pOly couldn’t even get onto PV last night … not sure if he soughted it or not … was just saing IE couldn’t acsess the website or something

What browser are you using and have you tried clearing it’s cache?

Were other websites a problem for you as well or just PV? I’m not aware of any problems in the last 48 hours…

wasn’t me .. was pOly … seemed like it was just pv by the way he was talking… wasn’t his connection as i was talknig to him on msn .. and that was working fine

Right sorry. Sounds like a problem with his ISP, perhaps even ISP filtering or a virus. Can I see a screenshot of a half loaded page?

I am still having a problem.

Latest version of IE, I have just cleared cache etc. Also not noticing any problems on other sites. I found the same problem on my other PC.

A short term solution might be trying another browser such as firefox or google chrome:

Firefox web browser
Google Chrome

After that send me a screenshot to look at and I’ll do my best to help you…

This is now strange. There is a contradiction between what is actually showing on my screen and the screenprint (see JPEG image) which has the missing bits.

Some of the posting functionalities are now disabled, so I cannot uploaded JPEG. KFUC. I am going to run a few scans.

I have now changed my browser to firefox and the previous problem has disappeared. Strange though as I have today tried to log onto PV from a 3rd computer and the forum was not displayed. It seems that the problem has been related to IE, although strange that everything was OK until last night.

I think I was just able to reproduce this by enabling the Smart Screen Filter under Tools. Enabling it blocked half the page and disabling made no change so I think this might be your problem… You’re too smart for your own good! 🙂

I will now check this. If there was a recent change made as you outline, this could be related to some IObit software I used to scan my PC. This has also changed the font icons on my desktop.

Incidently, a fourth PC I tried today would not even access the PV site past the homepage, unfortunately though I cannot now recall the error message.

Personally I steer well clear of PC Optimization software who’s benefits are pretty spurious at best. All the functionality you need is available under the Tools section in Spybot in Advanced mode, especially the start up section where you should disable what you don’t need…

I have just followed the steps you outline in IE and this has not solved the problem. Having said that, however, I am fairly sure that what has happened is the optimization software has altered some of the settings.

I also said after reproducing it and disabling the filter PV no longer displays correctly…

In IE when you try to display the page and it fails, is there a yellow icon on the bottom left of the window saying error on page? If so, double left click it and copy paste it here…
