Six Metropolitan Police officers have been suspended or placed on restricted duties following allegations of ill-treatment after a police raid.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the Enfield-based officers’ conduct, according to Scotland Yard.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place in the borough during two drugs raids on 4 November last year.

The Met said the allegations were serious and raised “real concern”.

But they said they could not comment on the exact nature of the complaints.

However, some national newspapers are reporting that the officers used water torture techniques such as ducking a suspect’s head under water.

The BBC has not independently confirmed these allegations, which remain unproven.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said a police employee had raised concerns about the conduct of a number of officers, during an internal investigation into allegations of mishandling of property.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) received information from a Metropolitan Police Service employee which raised concerns about the conduct of a small number of officers in Enfield borough,” he said.

and until peoples mindsets change there will always be this abuse of Police power.. I think the harsh facts are that many so-called “normal” people actually welcome Police brutality against those they disagree with, and are only annoyed that either legislation/”political correctness/human rights law” or their own lack of physical strength prevents them taking the law into their own hands against their perceived opponents..

its even bleaker in foreign lands (including the USA!) where people are subjected to far worse treatment or even the risk of being shot by cops/feds or the death penalty in the name of the “war on drugs”, again with the full collusion and even support of the “normal people”.

And much of this doesn’t happen in tinpot dictatorships but otherwise normal countries with democratic elections and parliaments :hopeless:

korea is harsh, but China (particularly South China) is actually fairly lax. There is as much of a rave scene there are in the West, and licenses for legal venues are sometimes easier to obtain than in Britain!

the really harsh nations (by Western standards) are ones like Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. India can also be harsh when raves get busted (everyone has to to a mandatory drugs test!)
