PM ‘to send message’ on ‘lethal’ use of skunk
(thanks to sammi !)
April 29, 2008 at 7:36 pm #1161430Why does he keep on calling Skunk lethal? I mean, it’s a lot of things… but it’s definitely not lethal. :you_crazy
Heres a list of drugs which are currently class c:
Quote:Cannabis, tranquilisers, some painkillers, Gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), Ketamine.Even if the govt. is right, and all drugs are too dangerous and should be illegal… don’t you think moving ket up should be a prioity? They dont have a fucking clue!

April 29, 2008 at 10:21 pm #1161405its not just one government though…
the entire worlds leaders have sat down on several occasions at the UN and agreed that the recreational use of drugs should be illegal.
Sadly, even people from countries that are completely politically opposed and are at war with each other agree on this issue (ironically often for different original reasons) although religion and the intense competitive nature of the world economy are the most common drivers for this..

April 30, 2008 at 5:52 am #1161431Yeah, but to be fair… who listens to the U.N anyway? Holland is still a member, right? (Or maybe it gets around this because its only decriminalized?)

(Or maybe it gets around this because its only decriminalized?)exactly. it could easily go the other way, Sweden and (maybe) Denmark both had similar tolerance zones at one point and rolled this back.

April 30, 2008 at 4:42 pm #1161432As did we in an area of London a while back, if i remember correctly?
Obviously Gordo is just pandering to the middle englanders in an attempt to win a few votes back from the conservative party.
Theres not a hair of difference between the two major parties these days… 😥
I did see a poll recently that out the lib dems only 9% behind Labour. I know thats quite a lot, but dems have enjoyed a steadily increasing share of the vote over the past few years (perhaps this is set to continue). So maybe, just maybe, if the dems. get their act together, come up with some propper policies (instead of just moaning about the oppositions), get some decent leadership AND dont completely sell out as soon as they have a reasonable say in the govt. Then, just maybe, in a few years, we’ll have slightly less stringent laws against cannabis use. Whoopie! Democracy FTW:hopeless: 😉

the same applies to many EU countries TBH (OK with a centre right party there is usually less public sector investment and smaller government but larger law enforcement)
the saddest part of it is IMO people voted away democracy around 20-25 years ago in pursuit of American-inspired money-orientated society – and as this caused short term prosperity in Britain other European nations have followed.
As for drugs the only way things could change is if the entire EU stood up to the USA / UN and decriminalised substances across 25 nations on the same date. This would prevent problems with drug tourism and drug-related immigration which is the biggest bone of contention with regard to todays party drugs culture.
