A modern TV station works by having a big database with what all the programmes are in it and what type they are (i.e advert/programme/trailer) and lots of complex electronic stuff that links computers with big video hard drive servers, video tape recorders, live feeds etc, the audio/video mixing console etc. (A few years ago I used to test and install this sort of stuff).
Ads have a priority programme code (so its also difficult to accidentally take them off air by pressing the wrong button on the mixer or a computer) and extra equipment is deliberately switched into the audio circuit to the transmitter to raise the volume when the ads come on.

January 4, 2008 at 10:51 pm #1128194trust me, we have it easy over here! I just sent 3 years in the states and they have so many adverts, like every 5 mins, at least over here its every 15-20 mins.
Of course when I came back over here I started to torrent my fav shows and the loverly people that create the torrent edit out all the ads so you get to watch your show, movie, porn without any interuption;)
