it only happens occaisonally, but i was listening to an lp and not mixing i heard the record kinda speed up for a tiny bit and then go back to normal? and its not the record slipping. this explains why i have to keep adjusting the records every so often when beatmatching.
could it be fluctuations in the power supply? i am using a 4 way adaptor off a 4way adaptor for the decks and mixer, with my stereo and other shit running off the first one.
or are my decks fucked?
any help much appriciated
December 3, 2007 at 4:57 pm #1125850what decks are they?
does anything else play up at the same time? (lights dimming etc)
do you know what sort of mains power feed do you have to your house? are there thinks like electric ovens or showers?

December 3, 2007 at 5:35 pm #1125861yeah it realy depends on what decks you have … if there belt drive .. then well .. um … you got riped off imo .. unless you got them for -£10
if not then the torque on the motor might be some thing to do with it … is it a problem thats just started to happen or are they new?December 3, 2007 at 5:35 pm #1146797yeah it realy depends on what decks you have … if there belt drive .. then well .. um … you got riped off imo .. unless you got them for -£10

theyre numark ttx1 direct drives, theyre old flagship model, had em about a month now, but know two people with em who havent had this problem afaik.
and no, nothing else trips out , the lamp next to the decks stays constant even when everything is on.
but tbh there is 2 dd decks, a mixer, a stereo, a kaoss pad and a lamp all running off one plug.

December 4, 2007 at 10:25 pm #1125862well i use vestax pdx2000’s and have had that problem some times … i think the vertion of newmarks you have are based on them … i was told by m8s that vestax have all soughts of problems if not regulary servised .. ranging from them varying rpm to spinning backwards out of the blue… iirc your decks have a reverse button on them .. and other digital shit like that … the problem with vestax is as far as i know the complex electronics of the thing… so you get a slightly off tuned bit of electronics or it gets a knock or summing like that that puts it out of synk shit like that happens … i meen there are the other things to think about like running shit loads of plugs off a divider .. that dont help for sure … but who don’t do that …. another friend of mine told me about his vestax that he gets regulary checked every year for £50 and that keeps the garantee for another year also … he never has had any problems with his .. and all my other m8s have at some point had a problem of some motor speed related shizzle with there decks ..regardless of make brand … even the non vestax designs witch are renowned for that kind of shit … well vestax them selves n e way … so all tho it could well be summing to do with your set up ie. to many plugs… if you can aford it it might be a good idear getting some one to look at them … that only if you have eliminated every thing else ofc 😉

December 5, 2007 at 12:35 am #1125853ive heard of vestax randomly going backwards too! not good during a set! apparently mobile phones set them off.:you_crazy
im gonna redo the way ive plugged everything in so that just the decks run on one socket and everything else off the other socket in my room.
if that dont help im gonna have to deal with it! i got em for a reasonable price and hopefully their only temporary till i upgrade, then ive gotta decide (again) betwwen vestax numark or technics…… it would be technics untill i got these numarks with 20% pitch, proper useful
anyways cheers for the advice

December 5, 2007 at 12:40 am #1125863yeah tbh it could be caused by a few things mentioned by peeps in your thread .. just eliminate them acording to ease first and then think about re wireing your house or getiing new decks .. or even getiing the nemark ppl to charge you more than the decks them selves to fix them …asuming numark is like vestax xD .. you know they vestax sell the dust covers for pdx2000’s for £50 each seperate from the decks … hahhaha i know there good ..but cummon there not that good :crazy_diz

December 5, 2007 at 12:49 am #1125851numarks have flimsy cases
electrical fields will effect them so move the amps, lamps and anything else as far away as possible

December 5, 2007 at 12:59 am #1125864yeah thats a good idea … i notice that if i got a fucking bundal of wires some where pluged in it will will make shit humm from the coils of wire out my speakers .. so if thats near your decks then it might make the motor fuck up as that works on ac witch is esentualy what a mess of wires will make ..(half an ac motor) so yeah if you got shit like that either move it away or pref organize it some ..i banished messy wires in my room a while back lawl:sign0010:

December 5, 2007 at 8:46 pm #1125856You may also find that oiling your decks [check your manual for where] may help with that

December 5, 2007 at 11:44 pm #1125857I seen a box used before (by a crew) and was told it was to stop the power fluctuations that cause turntables to slow and speed – but I dont know what it was called – 🙁 can only suggest maplins or call technics…
if you can borrow a turntable you can check whether its your numark decks or the power before you have to spend out…..
