March 12, 2011 at 1:22 pm #1124214What happened to these guys? Last I heard, half the rig had been installed in a club somewhere (couple of years ago). Do they still tour?
And yeah, it’s stupidly loud and bassy and IMO not that nice sounding. When you go to their nights the bass is like some sort of drug that you can’t escape from and you have to get used to your insides churning around for 8 hours. Don’t really see the point in running a rig so loud that everyone has to wear earplugs all night or risk permanent hearing damage – just turn it down a bit!

April 7, 2011 at 7:45 pm #1124223AnonymousI would never risk bringing a valve speaker/rig to a soundsystemm, they’re so delicate especially after a few hours heating up..

AFAIK there are no actual valves (as in thermionic valves, the glowing things you find in old audio gear) in the Valve sound system.

But they still use the glass valves right? Surely? All the description matched glass valves – sounding “warmer” and better as time goes on..

April 9, 2011 at 10:28 am #1124216I doubt it – I think it’s quite difficult to engineer them for high power PA applications. I know Dillinja’s label is called Valve so I guess it was named after that (or is it the other way round?).
Whatever they use in that soundsystem it sounded crap when I heard it – stupidly loud, too much bass and everything else sounded distorted. Not my idea of a ‘warm’ sound.

April 12, 2011 at 1:06 am #1124222Sounded ok when I heard it, but I’ve heard much better soundsystems. It’s just really, stupidly loud.

January 12, 2012 at 4:02 pm #1124226First of all i think my ears have been damaged more by poor sound systems in clubs with way too much high frequencies than vlv sound and plus they give ear plugs so u can take a break to save your ears doesnt mean u cant still hear and feel the music.
