Reader Chloe sends us these images of what is surely a new Banksy piece in Bethnal Green. And she seems to have captured the face of the artist, hitherto unseen. (However, we’ve seen that flower shape before, around Shoreditch—perhaps Banksy is here teaming up with someone else.)
The work seems to be some kind of riposte to Tower Hamlets council, which recently declared it would erase all of Banksy’s graffiti in the borough.

November 1, 2007 at 12:50 am #1123955it is kinda pathetic that someone sent those in
but at the same time he deserves it considering hes pretending that being famous is all just a stunt to fuck the media over from the inside when hes clearly just loving every minute of itNovember 1, 2007 at 12:50 am #1144872it is kinda pathetic that someone sent those in

My partner is doing her dissertation on him, and the more I find out the less I like. Sure the cynical artwork has some merit but the media monster created around him is sickening especially with celebrities like Brangelina buying his stuff up for millions, to make themselves look cool. He is a victim of his own success(bloody cliches!)

( I on the other hand personally would happily sell my art work for vasts ammounts of money and love every minute of it :laugh_at:)

Basically, he’s a sell-out.

Its not like he’s working on commision. he’s still drawing what he wants, fair play to him if he wants to sell it. I dont think its the same as say the music industry where an underground artist could sign to a major label and then has to make tunes that sound like this or that depending on what the label want him to make to sell more records.
