      Quote:
Essex Police and its neighbouring forces are appealing to local landowners to remain vigilant over the Easter break and to immediately report any incursions onto property by people who may be intent on holding a rave. Extra care should be taken to ensure that property entrances are secured wherever this is possible.

Illegal raves not only cause distress to local residents, whose lives are disturbed by loud music over a long period of time and by large numbers of people making their way on and off a site, but they also could potentially put lives and property at risk.

The organisers of these events have not made the necessary arrangements to ensure the health, safety and security of the attendees. There is usually a lack of proper sanitary provisions and nothing put in place to deal with the risk of fire.

Police in Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk will be working together over the Easter period to try and prevent illegal raves in the region. The forces will be sharing information about offenders known to be responsible for organising these illegal events and will be working with partner agencies to proactively target them. Offenders will be dealt with robustly. Anyone considering holding a rave must be aware that the risk of a criminal conviction is real.

Commenting on the issue of illegal raves Chief Inspector Michael Holdsworth from Suffolk’s Operational Planning department said: “Early information from the public is critical if we are to prevent a rave from taking place. Our priority when dealing with raves is the health and safety of all those involved. If we can get onto a site early, seize equipment and prevent the rave from taking place, we will!”

“However in some cases where a rave is up and running with large crowds of people already present it is sometimes necessary to manage the event where it is, monitoring it closely to ensure as far as possible the safety of the attendees. Vehicles trying to get on or off the site will be stopped and drivers details taken. Where possible the organisers will be identified and dealt with at the end of the event which will be closed down as soon as it is safe to do so.

“I would urge anyone who sees anything that they think may be connected with an illegal rave to contact police immediately dialling 999 if necessary. Suspicious activity could include large convoys of cars grouping together in car parks or vans and trucks suitable for transporting sound equipment making their way onto rural sites.”

Anyone who has information about an illegal rave should contact their local police.

999 can be used for any crime in progress, and for serious threats to property as well as life

obviously I don’t agree with them and nor does anyone else on here with regard to anti-rave hysteria but I can see why cops (and locals) get so uptight about Bank Holiday, whichever area gets it is gonna get about 1500-4000 people, bare cars and 3 days worth of human shit and litter in the adjoining fields, and you always get people breaking fences, and parking in crop fields when parties happen in rural areas…

I’d suggest authorities to create the 666 number as anti-rave emergency number.Raves seems to be the greatest danger humanity has ever faced…

In France, after a period of hard clampdowns, things have become smaller, and the authorities pressure decreased a little.

raaa good luck to you, overseas ravers!!! raaa

glad to hear this, as France is is many ways similar to England.

This warning comes from the areas in which I currently live – I don’t like it at all but I can see why it happened due to previous events – I think its all about choosing locations well and a bit of give and take between ravers and locals..

the lockdowns happened not because ravers are that much of a threat to society (there is far worse like gangs and violent criminals) but partly because sound systems got bigger and bigger (and the East of England is flat so sound travels further) and a few fools cost people in rural areas a lot of money by being inconsiderate (damage, litter).

I hope that locals and ravers (and TBH many of the young ravers live in the same areas the parties happen anyway!) can eventually reach a compromise…

I don’t think any compromise with locals will ever be possible. The way to escape clampdowns is:secret and self responsability.About the size of Sound Systems, they became smaller(due to seizure risks and less drug money income;most of the rigs I know paied it from their work incomes!)

The positive thing in France(IMO) is that parties had to become smaller in order to escape the “condés”(french word for old bill);it’s then easier to clean up and prevent crimes(awful things happened in the early 00’s during teknivals or other too big parties,as rapes, stabbings and murders). If a problems begins in a 200 people party,it’s easy to react and chase the f****s.

Saying that, they are great chances that our future President will be f*****g Sarkozy(right-right wing). If it happends,I fear the worst is to come,as he’s an absolute freedom killer(and asshole too).A kind of french CJA would surely be voted…

raaa keep it secret under the moonlight raaa

This is what I mean by “compromise”; we live in a smaller country than France (in fact 3 and a bit countries formed into USSR-style union state and still with civil war in one bit!) It is very hard to keep any rave totally “secret” because British people are nosey – and CCTV cameras are everywhere, watching where our cars and vans go.

What I mean is that we have to choose such locations that even if locals do see the party, instead of dialling 999 or 112 (works here as well), even if they don’t like it they just walk on and let the event happen as no-one is getting harmed by it.

Our “teknivals” in Britain are now only 4 000-5 000 people anyway at their largest. I agree with you parties are better when kept to a smaller size (a large “British” party is about the optimum size), when 10 000 people get together there is too much chance of crime or violence as particularly males want to fight to be “alpha male” like chimps in the zoo, especially when ketamine makes us closer to apes.
