Come on everyone, admit it. You all love happy hardcore. Every single one of you. So many people rip into it, but everyone is too afraid to admit that its amazing, it took me years, but now i can admit it. Its amazing, the vocals may be cheesy, every track may be predictable and follow exactly the same basic pattern, but its hilariously good.
So just admit it, stick on some happy hardcore (if you dont have that, freeform will do) and party away.:weee:February 26, 2007 at 7:01 pm #1100383Thanks, but no thanks! :yakk:
February 26, 2007 at 7:40 pm #1100377depends what you mean by “happy Hardcore” I dont really hold with that description….you have Hardcore…and you have tripe…end of !!
February 26, 2007 at 7:46 pm #1100371Yeah, come on! There’s a lot more to hardcore than the happy shit. Everything after 95 was pretty shit, when they lost the breakbeats I lost interest.
Saying that I LOVE 91-94 hardcore.

February 26, 2007 at 9:59 pm #1100393Haha, dont get me wrong, gabber and dark hardcore and freeform are way better than happy hardcore, but for a laugh and a party, come on, happy hardcore is the best.

It’s awsome. Every happy hardcore tune I’ve ever heard of and hundreds more.
Hours of fun (“,)February 27, 2007 at 10:45 am #1100411listen mate i didnt read anymore of your post past , happy hardcore, its fucking shit.
February 27, 2007 at 11:09 am #1100363yep I do still listen to and enjoy various forms of hardcore but I don’t think the really cheesy “happy hardcore” has actually been made for a good few years. Yes there was some horrendous cheese around 1996-2001 (which is why a lot of people abandoned it) but the music has evolved a bit into freeform, nu-Energy and UK hardcore…
The emerging hardcore breaks movement is good..
sometimes you get tunes with “happy” samples and vocals but in the mixes I’ve been listening to theres a fair bit more darker stuff, even a lot of the vocal tracks are about relationships unravelling rathet than all “love and happiness”
There’s even that Knite Force tune (think its called “Kill Bella Donna”) with those Canadian guys singing lyrics which are hilarious if slightly misogynistic…
Most UK hardcore / hardcore breaks tracks are no more formulaic than other hard dance genres or even drum and bass, and they do at least have a mostly positive/uplifting sound to them.. TBH I think there should be more uplifting stuff played at raves (particularly underground ones) anyway, IMO the scene has got a bit too “serious” and even quite aggressive – OK the hostility from feds and crew politics play a large part in this but it needs to be offset somehow..
February 27, 2007 at 11:11 am #1100403raaa Come on what about shooting star and Heart of gold????

February 27, 2007 at 11:37 am #1100404Yeah i know what you mean! When i am mashed i can stomp away to it, but then again i wouldn’t be able to handle it all night!
I do actually own a few old old tapes and recently bought the Helter Selter hardcore CD’s. not that they get played much, its just fun to get in from clubbing and dance around my room to it! also you can sing to the lyrics
February 27, 2007 at 2:28 pm #1100406nah man i’d rather eat my pc than admit to lovin happy hardcore that much! past 95 it all jus sounds like a snes game or summin.
February 27, 2007 at 3:51 pm #1100382I will dance to anything with a beat mate raaa

Alot of the hard trance and house used have an uplifting/euphoric edge to it especially at outdoor freepartys (not so much at squats)

And GL- that’ll be ‘Kill Bella Donna’, some of the Hardcore/ DnB fusion stuff that Kniteforce was doing a while ago.

Its all about hardcore breaks!
February 27, 2007 at 7:56 pm #1100378sorry to bang on, but I really dont like the term Happy Hardcore at all, its either just Hardcore or its tripe…Pretty Green Eyes and the like..
When the question is asked ” do you like happy Hardcore” most people are thinking about tracks like Green Eyes, shooting star etc so the answer is skewed. If anything ws ever “Happy” Hardcore I would think of stuff like Ravers Choice, Fat Controller etc.
I love all Hardcore…just hate Tripe:wink:
February 27, 2007 at 9:32 pm #1100394Hahaha, nah i just cant get enough of happy hardcore (or tripe then) at the moment. I love Scott Browns mixes, they always start happy then finish with a couple of Nu Skool Gabber tracks. hahaha
