Ah ha ha I was walking down the road to the trainstation this morning saying out loud to myself “ah ha ha I’m a chav” constantly.
Funny this is… I’m not really… I’m like the complete opposite.
NO NOT A GRUNGER or any of that shit.
Just I never seen a chav in drainpipes… mmm. Oh well.
Actually… I’m just bored…. I dunno why cause’ I’m quite busy really.
Ah ha ha who’s going to a party this weekend????

October 6, 2006 at 10:46 am #1091512well according to wiktionary I now definitely am a chav (albeit the friendlier definition)…. and TBH in wider society particularly the so-called “middle classes” anyone who likes dance/rave music is seen as a chav (unless they are obvious “hippy” types)..
Although there are a lot of stupid kids causing trouble IMO a lot of people do get judged merely because of their appearance and if people are treated like scum they often think “fuck it” start behaving like scum…
chav (plural chavs)
- (British, derogatory, informal) A working-class youth: especially as associated with aggression, poor education, and a perceived ‘common’ taste in clothing and lifestyle.
- (British, friendly, informal) Somebody who regularly dresses in casual sports clothing, has a taste for dance and pop music, and is able to talk to younger people on informal terms.

October 7, 2006 at 12:32 am #1091526i am not a chav . simple.
next….:love:October 7, 2006 at 12:58 am #1091516Blimey GL, I thought my result was going to be quite high after all the questions I answered! Apparently not.
October 7, 2006 at 10:16 am #1091514still second highest so far 😉
20% posh ( probably got the 1% because I know someone called Pip 🙂 )
thing is though when I do the tests I always ignore the questions about cars as I don’t have one
I think those questions on a lot of the chav tests are biased – they must give a heavy weight to using the Co-Op brands (got a share number as well innit 🙂 ) and they own most of the shops in Ipswich anyway!)
other ones I have seen also have questions about having your extended family living close by which is common for most British Asian people…. other tests even add more to your chav rating if you have “ever been to a rave!”
TBH also I reckon older (+30 years) ravers may score high as some of the clothing brands were initially popular in the 80s/early 90s.
The Danes would score lower as they may not have some of the shops in DK…
its all about attitude though – I don’t go around walking the streets looking to start trouble with goths;OK I’m a bit old for that now but even in the 80s although we used to get on well with the goths and most became ravers…

thing is though as far as I can tell you are a nice person… raaa
this whole “anti-chav” thing is as much about prejudice as anything else… it has been picked up by Britains conservative newspapers as well and used to divide youth communities
when I lived in my old city (Reading, in SE England) a lot of my younger friends were rockers and emos.
The rockers/emos were just as likely to be unemployed and take dole or doss about at “college” as chavs (OTOH there were plenty of people who worked)
I’d sit and chat with them about their music and gigs; and they’d also talk about incidents of serious violence kicking off at gigs because of jealousy between band members; this was all seen as normal yet I rarely heard of that miuch fighting at raves (and when it happened it was local gangs rather than crew people!).
And when some of my friends put on raves it was good to see the “chavs” and “emos” all partying together and being friends (that IMO was the best part of it)
I feel strongly about stopping divisions between youth subcultures though as I think that is why in England we do not have such things as the ungdomhuset; as people are too much divided amongst themselves.
October 7, 2006 at 10:40 am #1091521scored 15% on the chav test and 53% on posh test…maybe I should try out the weird test instead?:crazy_diz :laugh_at:
