Trent Reznor (aka NIN) has released the base files from one of his latest singles – “Only” for the general public to download and remix

You can do it in Ableton, Garageband, Pro-Tools, or Acid, and the files necessary are all in the archive (including the original mix for reference). You need to register, but that only means signing up for the NIN newsletter, and a MySpace account if you want to submit your remix (meaning in my case a Myspace acount just to do this…:wink: – still resisting the lure of the dark side…:wink:)

None of this costs anything, and is being done in the spirit of experimentation and collaboration for the benefit of music (the copywrite for the sounds is retained by Trent, and you can’t use it for commercial purposes, but he is thinking about doing some sort of official endorsement in the form of an EP or something….maybe.:weee:)

And it’s a bloody good tune too… IMO one of his very best, and certainly his best since pretty hate machine…
