June 13, 2006 at 10:09 pm #1078832That was spot on JE:5
Was different from everything we have on here usually (which is a definite bonus!)
I look forward to next fortnight.
Did you manage to get it recorded??

It’s not been my lucky week for recording 🙁 I’ll definitely get the next one recorded, another mate is coming over and bringing a third deck to lay some cuts and scratches down, he is very good 🙂
June 14, 2006 at 1:23 pm #1078829Also, about 15 minutes near the end was someone else trying to connect? one of the people listening said it kept cutting between my stream and something else. Or was it just my connection being dodgy and the other one being a back up thing?
June 14, 2006 at 1:49 pm #1078835Like Biogeek said u can set oddcast to record the stream in mp3 directly onto your hard drive you just choose where you want it to save to..
Its very handy means you don’t have to mess about setting up other programmes to record it for you…

The “something else” is the 24 hour loop we have playing of loads of different mixes and past shows. When someone isn’t live that is playing. So when a connection falters it reverts back to the loop.
Were you doing anything different towards the end? Looking at websites etc?

No, nothing different, I only had the chatroom open and MSN messenger throughout. I have a feeling it’s my primary hard drive as it’s pretty full, I have a new one though and I just need to clone my present drive onto the other, any tips 😉

Correct, aka, the ‘fallback mount’. Its also useful because any listeners already connected get transfered as soon as you connect. But only if you use the same bitrate (96kbps). You guys do this normally but i thought i might point this out for anyone considering streaming @ 128k etc..
Even if your bandwidth is clear a modem flap (small period i.e. 1/2 secs of downtime) can cause this to happen. I get it occasionally on my connection.

JE:5 Msn can cause things to slow down as well i try not to have it running when i’m doing the radio as it takes up bandwith..

i am big on a fresh all round install myself, cloning drives just brings the system problems to the new drive:you_smart
and like acidfairy says dont keep MSN open while playing, just the chatroom:rant:

There’s no system problems, it’s just that it’s only a 4GB hard drive and it keeps running out of space, I just got given an 80GB one so I would like to transfer all my data to that. I don’t think I could bear to lose all my music software and settings again!

i think it is possible to clone a drive but cant remember how; anyone else help out?:bounce_o::bounce_o:

Recently I’ve streamed the Culmvalley relay at a lower bitrate (is it comes in at a low bitrate anyway) and JE:5 was using 64kbps last night.
Will keep that in mind.
