just wondered what odd words people have amongst their crowd – there seem to be a lot of strange words/phrases people have invented over the years as part of the rave scene … they vary from area to area, but here are some from the Thames Valley area..
zoot – a spliff (this one has been going on for about 14 years!)
wronged up – to have consumed copious amounts of ketamine (which is sometimes called wrongamine or “wrong”)
bare – loads of (there are bare chavs at this party….)moosed – a local variation of “messed” (i.e high on drugs), so a messer is a mooser (this is a new term, “moose” was also a term for an ugly person)
mission – old skool rave slang for any task you don’t particularly want to do because you are moosed..
reeeee – a completely silly made up word people from around oxfordshire sometimes say (pronounced in various ways). No idea how or why it was made up…
so what are the terms from your area?
August 9, 2005 at 9:35 pm #1066686No a few but they’re pretty standard I think
messy munter – like your wronged up.. getting ketted upGoing K Holing – Ket Trip
smacked off yer tits – over doing it on the biscuits
Bowl of special K – passing round the Ket
John deed(got john deed last night) – same as above… but I dunno why its said!
Grunties – The people that get to a club, by 11.00pm theyve had about 7 or 8, in a complete mess and will be home in bed by midnight.
August 9, 2005 at 9:42 pm #1066675Anonymoushooves – decent speakers; “they hoof it”
dibble – OB; those who confiscate hooves
nice one – party without dibble

thats an interesting one as I’ve always associated it with the North but its travelled down south over the years, yet everyone saw “Top Cat” (or Boss Cat depending on your age [1]) whereever you lived
in the south cops are also called rozzers but in SE London they were called “gazzas” in the early 90s (because some are fat and like pies? :biggreen: )
[1] The BBC re-named the cartoon as there was once a brand of cat food called “Top Cat” – they didn’t want to be advertising (unlike today where CBBC shows are blatantly branded by toy companies/music producers :annoyed: )

I think in maidstone (s.e england) the police were called ‘gavvas’ , never knew the root of that one ??

and “gazza” was a local variant in the early 1990s (for the benefit of foreign readers, Paul “Gazza” Gascoigne was a popular football (soccer) player of that era, but degenerated into a fat pisshead and woman-beater).
