Hello.
I heard about this website from my good buddy, and so I thought that I better register and become a member so that, if the time should come, I can share my vast party wisdom with you all.
Though I’ve been partying for a while, I took a couple of years off, but now I’m back and trying to get into the scene again. The hardest thing is not being able to drive, so I’m constantly dependant on buddies, who more often than not, work weekends, which sucks.
But anyway, I’m a dreadlocked chap who loves techno & all that it brings with it – I may have met some of you at already, but I was probably unable to speak coherantly, which is a common ailment I tend to suffer from at parties.
However, my daytime/sober mind works quite well, so with a bit of luck I shall be able to communicate with you all.

I think maybe I was getting a little impatient. Being a respectable citizen, I have to be alive and well at SEVEN IN THE MORNING. I wrote that in capitals just to highlight the ridiculousness of it all. Does it benefit anyone? Well, probably, yes. But that’s not the point, it’s too early to get up. I should be dancing in some field at 7, not getting woken up by some stupid contraption that emits a really bad electronic cockerel noise. Anyway, back to the point. At the beginning of the week, all this succeeds in doing is leaving me wishing for someone who can understand what I’ve been up to at the weekend that I can say hello to.
Have you ever tried explaining parties to your work colleagues without mentioning “squat”, “illegal”, “drugs” or “completely mashed up in a ditch, not knowing my arse from my elbow, but being able to navigate through time, space and the cosmos”? It’s quite difficult to do…
And that’s why I came here…

hi – welcome to partyvibe. it often does take a few days for people to recover, and its always good to see a new person on the board.
I fully appreciate what you say about early starts, and not being able to talk about your weekends to work colleagues – TBH it is best to keep schtum – unless you all have an equal stake in the organisation and/or respect on another, and are not answerable to outside public bodies or higher management for conduct outside work (something increasingly happening today).
I hope you have some good stories to share here:)
March 9, 2005 at 2:40 pm #1064618Believe me, I’ve learnt my lesson about keeping quiet *VERY* well.
Years ago, when I was at college, we used to go to a travellers site based near us to get blotters, but one of our friend’s fathers was quite a high ranking copper(!) and he overheard his excited son talking about our escapades on the phone one day and the next time we went down to the site, we not only walked into a bust, but it was our mates dad who was doing it! 😥
Don’t worry, though, this was 10 years ago now and through parties I’ve been to, through the demos & protests I’ve been involved in, in fact through pretty much everything I’ve done in the years since then, I’ve learnt two things (among others):
1 – Know your party rights – the police certainly hope we don’t.
2 – Loose lips really DO sink ships.Speak to y’all later
March 9, 2005 at 3:37 pm #1064615its a small world (particularly in places like the Thames Valley) you’d be surprised how many party people have a police officer or support staff (the control room people, IT staff etc) in the family.
in some cases the family connection means blind eyes are turned – OTOH this is corruption and can wreck careers – also when people are older and concerned about one of their offsprings or relatives drug use (even if it is non-problematic), things do get personal – its only human nature anyway when you have that sort of power.
With workplaces you also get people in every organisation who are special constables; worse still even with colleagues who are your age group and you think are sound its still worth being careful.
I think there are a few people at my work who may also go raving, but unless I really knew them well and trusted them fully I wouldn’t even discuss the subject.
There is a lot of competition for jobs and promotion these days with most of the companies here downsizing… when it gets to a competitive level not everyone plays fair..
so its brilliant we at least have this board to talk openly and where people are trusted to respect one anothers privacy…
you are correct we should know our rights, but nowadays building/land owners are also claiming theres and there is friction as some buildings and areas got rinsed and there has been too much damage and litter for the locals to put up with. However people are learning (although sadly some learnt the hard way) and there should be some good events still over the years which are still fun but cause minimal disruption…
