Well. I’ve gone and got myself some decks after a few years absence and need some tunes to go with them!
Does anyone know any record shops with a Decent selection of PsyTrance in Brighton, if not there then London?
It’s doing my head in trying to find this!
:confused:June 7, 2004 at 5:34 pm #1061803Seen (secondhand?) vinyl behind the counter, dunno whether it was for sale or not. I’m sure their staff will happily let you know. And otherwise they have their assortment of psytrance CDs(by label, easier to navigate perhaps).
Hope this helps!
June 7, 2004 at 11:24 pm #1061807Well…..
“Illegal records” is completely dedicated to psy-trance, you may have gone to their SOS party at the ocean rooms recently, although it was a benefit stomp, so I’m not sure if they are still there. You can find it below Solar, in Sydney street, Bright-town (01273 623454/ info@ajucaproductions.co.uk)
If not, then I suggest going along to 180/ Enzyme/ Psy Cookie at the Volks, all great stomping psy-trance/ Acid Tek nights and asking around.
Hope this helps.
Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp.
June 8, 2004 at 9:41 pm #1061800Cheers for that. I was talking to someone today who suggested Illegal – gonna give them a look tomorrow.
BTW – I went to the Enzyme night a Ocean Rooms the other week, cracking night!
June 9, 2004 at 1:01 pm #1061808All good mate. You’ll find the psy-scene is really kicking in Brighton. There’s loads of good nights, and quite a few free parties around the area.(Gnomelands was recently out near Chichester!)
Look out for Elfinite, which is a nite we run at sussex uni, and sometimes in town. There’s a dedicated society in the uni to the psy-scene and everything connected with it. Get in touch at Elfinitesps@hotmail.com. We’re always looking to get new contacts/ help at nights/ DJ’s, etc.
Have fun, prob see you around.
Binge.

August 29, 2004 at 8:29 pm #1061797AnonymousHi guys,
Yup I’ve recently found myself leaning towards picking up some psy stuff… and am actually contemplating getting CD decks for the privilege..
had a wonder round Camden and most psy stuff seems to be on CD (dunno why I should be surprised)… vinyl seemed particularly sparse in this genre, compared to say, acid or techno.
http://www.psyshop.com is pretty good online tho too. 😉
June 15, 2005 at 12:48 am #1061798AnonymousHi all,
I noticed this post so thought I would let you know that the main psy store in Brighton town is ‘The Ajuca Box ‘
Behind SOLAR Clothing
30 Sydney Street
Brighton
BN1 4EPWe specialize in all forms of trance from Ambient + Dub to Full on + Psy.
So for all the latest releases, dj equipment and party news, pop down and say hello and we can sort all your needs.. :cloud9:Please be reminded that ‘vinyl’ is very hard to find. So as i see above… CDs are definatley more accessable so if you want to compete in this scene.. You have to understand CD is the only way to collect fresh and cutting edge tunes.. Mainly because the market isnt big enough for vinyl..
:you_smart :sick:So people if you want to know more about our little buzzing store, please come and visit us or maybe you want to contact us by email or telephone:
ajucabox@ajucaproductions.co.uk

See you on the dance floor, or in the store..

June 25, 2005 at 11:42 am #1061804this happens quite regularly on here…. i’m always amazed at how long some of our threads last.
still all good though, as even if the original poster has long since left the answer can help someone else…

actually thats a strange phenomenon of psy-trance….
I’m not sure why but psy always seems to be released on CD whilst other urban music which is intended to be mixed is released on vinyl
anyone know why?

because there are so many who can click together some triplet-time basslines with a 303 emulator, send it to ‘jhonny q pressit’ and release it on dave’s webpage. If you were, Gataka, Astrix, Infected mushroom, or Vibrasphere… your vinyl would make money!
If anyone is up for starting a psytrance/goa only online vinyl store, (we’d need a P.O box and a bit of web knowhow) then i’d be up for that! we could make vinyl huge for the psy scene… and then invade parties and push all the technoheads off the decks with relative ease rather than disconnecting and fiddling about with laptops!!!!!

Old post, I know, but psytrance was never released on vinyl ‘back in the day’ because they were prone to melting back in Goa. Back then, it was all played on DAT tapes. I guess the no vinyl thing just stuck…
Having said that, I know a few friends who do have some old school Goa trance/psytrance LPs, but as far as I’m aware, they weren’t released in abundance.
